I might be the only freak that does this but I was looking for a cream today and came across compagel and read that it is good for tendonitis which I have almost always due to a deformity when I was born and it actually really helped!! Normally it's horses using human products! Anyone got any other uses for horsey products?

I will admit to being a little gross..

After a hack and my hairs a mess after a wild one (sweaty under my hat or something).. I will borrow one of ameys brushes for her mane and tail (like a proper hair brush but with a horse name branded on it) and brush the worst of my hair so I can tie it up without it being a knotted mess....:eek::eek:

I do always shower after riding out anyway but yeah... And no I don't pull her hair out of it before brushing mine :eek:

I've heard Coligone is really good for hangovers, I've seen kids entertain themselves for hours attempting to eat likits, my mother uses a shavings fork to lift dog poop off the lawn, my father uses a shavings fork for leaves, dandy brush to clean ugg boots... Pretty much everything horsey has duel uses!

My friend had her hand trodden on and squished  so I plunged it in a tub of ice tight and packed her off to A&E.

I have been known to slap a bit of cornucrescine on my hands to help my nails grow - it's fab.

Eaten the lickits, licked the salt licks. I have a poop scoop at home for picking up the dog poo. Ooh and a rubber curry comb to de-fluff the dog's coat as he sheds.

Best one was going to A&E with a broken foot held together with vet wrap! Dr just looked at me, sighed, and said 'you're a horsey one, aren't you?'

Dermobion (even out of date) is fab for those annoying cracks you get near nails that constantly re-open.
Used vetwrap, bandages, dressings etc both in emergencies & deliberately on myself & other people. Also used an animalintex poultice on an infected horse fly bite I had. And taken bute.
Use a shavings fork as a garden rake, & a hoof pick for de weeding between the paving.
Also eat lickits.
As kids, we used to eat the horses mix. It was the first time we'd all seen 'mix' & if we were starving, we ate it.
And use daughters pony to mow lawns, anyone's will do!
Use leadropes as dog leads, & have various old buckets for gardening, storage in the shed etc.

I swear by animalintex for skin infections. Have had a couple of abcesses on my legs from infected mosquito bites that wouldn't go away. Couple of poutices later had they had burst and stopped being painful. (Didn't use vetwrap and duct tape- that would have been silly :)) Got a pack in the bathroom cabinet if anything comes up again. Non-horsey OH wondered what the hell it was when he saw it.

Not sure we ever had a proper dog lead for the dogs. Always a lead rope around to use.

Had our first case of mud fever last year, noticed that when I had put the mud fever barrier cream (specific horsey one, can't remember which) on the horse my hands were lovely and soft. Works much better than hand creams. Still use it now if my hands are very dry :)

Coligone for hangovers is hilarious. I don't have any of it as my horse isn't prone to tummy issues, but maybe I should get some, as I occasionally have hangover issues. Mix it with a bit of Irn Bru, maybe?

When I was at Uni, I had the the ingenious idea of using Cowboy Magic detangler in my own (long and tangled) hair. Bad move. It made it tangled and horrendously greasy and was a b u gger to wash out.

Ha ha! I was gonna ask if anyone had tried mane and tail conditioner as I'm often tempted with my stupidly fine hair always looking like small mammals are nesting in it .... I now know not to try it! :D

I have occasionally accidently had Recharge (horsey electrolyte) when I have tried to dose my horse that doesn't like to be syringed. Same with bute... and yes wormer too.

I use vet wrap on myself Cetrigen Purple spray as antiseptic. I have used a horse rug as a blanket on a few occasions.

I will also fess up to tasting the odd lickit (apple, carrot and cherry :) )

And it goes the other way too, I use Pawpaw ointment on the sides of my horses mouth to stop the bit rubbing him (I also use it on cuts and scrapes)

I have used Magnoplasm and Fixomul tape on abscesses to help draw them out. I also use Zen linament on any sore muslces. :)

I use mane and tail detangler on my waist length hair no problems, I wouldn't even use Cowboy magic on my horse though, horrid greasy stuff.

Years ago when we had ringworm going around the yard I caught it too, I used Griseofulvin which we were using on the horses.

I would happily use any ice gel/cooling agent, and if I cut myself in the barn I use Betadine (aka Povidone, which is just iodine)

When my son was little he had the most terrible chesty cough and cold. My mother-in-law put a kaolin poultice on his chest. I'm not saying he was cured overnight but he was loads better and it was more effective than what we could get from the chemist.

I'd use any horsey products if I thought they'd help - if it's good enough for them it's good enough for me.

The horse medicine cupboard is better stocked then the human one!
when I nearly severed my thumb I washed it with Hibbbiscrub, then dressed it with gamgee, and taped with duct tape before going to the doctors. My dressing was better than theirs!

The one thing that I swear by is NAF D-tox, slightest sign of a cold and I down a large dose in a fruit juice and it will kick the cold/virus into touch.

I've used vet wrap as a bra...mine broke just before a hack whilst tacking up and to avoid giving myself black eyes or them slipping under my armpits I strapped myself up...it worked but I wouldn't advise it as a long term bra solution ;)

Cooling gel is great for aching muscles, as is Barriers mint muscle wash in the bath. (Use the two together for great results.)

Used my Arc Equine on me, its never been near the horse! Also use vet wrap to attach it to me.

Equimins wonder balm is wonderful stuff and helps heal cracked and dry skin over night.

My parents also use veterinary wound powder. Much better than the human stuff.

I do hope you lot have signed yourselves out of the human food chain ;)

I use everything - I won't use anything on my horse that I wouldn't try myself... Have to say though, never try karidox liquid (doxycycline antibiotic) its rank!!!!!

The micronised linseed is lovely if you add it to the mix when you make your own bread.
I have used showsheen to get knots out of hair before now.
