Anyone use Pro Hoof supplement?

I have used it for 4 or 5 months on my now 2 year old. He is a good doer so doesn't need a feed as such, but wanted to make sure he got all he needed for growth without a feed t make him fat. He has always had brilliant feet, so particularly chose this to help keep them that way.

To be honest I am not at all impressed, I have noticed no difference in horn quality (although they are still very good, so maybe if he'd had poor feet they would have improved) He is bloated from spring grass despite having yea sacc in it and his coat is duller than it was last year. And it costs a fortune!

After I have finished my supply, he'll go on to Pure feeds like my TB - who is looking amazing. I have just seen Pro Balance though, that is half the price of Pro Hoof, so may feed that along side Pure feeds (mine gets half rations of Pure Easy at the moment as she was doing a little too well on it) I know our local area is lacking copper, zinc and magnesium (hence choosing pro hoof) - but as my forage comes from different places depending on price, there is no point in having a forage analysis - see this as a compromise

I brought a tub, but it wouldve cost me £30 a month to keep my two horses on it.
I used it up and went back to mag ox, brewers and salt.
Sorry I cant say whether it made a difference as my two have got good feet and I only put them on it as a 'just in case'.

The customer service is good though and simple to order via Ebay :)

I would like to try it but feel it is too expensive and so buy individual minerals from the same supplier.

i am actually considering buying this for my horse has seedy toe, have tried everything else and nothing. but its very expensive, will follow this thread and see whatevery thinks of it.

I use it for my barefooted new forest. He has good horn quality but I am just hoping it gives him just that little bit of support against laminitis. He's on a starvation paddock and soaked hay/straw mix at night so no real nutrients. I have to say he's better on angular stone tracks than last year but his coat is looking a bit poor which is disappointing. I started using my current bag on 28th February and got one nights worth left. So nearly 3 months for 30 pounds seems pretty cheap to me!

hi, where are you getting 3 mths for £30. i was looking on ebay and a 1,8kg of it and the seller said will last 33 days 1 scoop for sore feet aday. cost £30

I use it... In the words of the then farrier "He's a TB and has cr@p feet" as a response to why he was losing a shoe a week...

Linseed oil was changed to micronised and pro hoof supplement added in... He is now hacking on the roads with front shoes only - at the suggestion of the new farrier who also fits his shoes slightly differently with more heel support and takes his back toes off slightly more to accommodate the distinct over reaching he does... He also rolls the front shoes as the lad can trip a bit... His feet aren't brilliant and they do still look pretty dire compared to the other non shod horses - but, and it's a biiiiiig but, he's coping well with no shoes on the back, doesn't appear to be at all footsore and no bleeding heels as he was when he arrived... The hoof on the outside of the white ring doo dah has thickened up quite noticeably which helps with shoeing the fronts too... He's not in heavy work - some fittening, a bit in the school for lessons and hacks out a few times a week... If he was pounding the roads for hours every day he would undoubtedly need rear shoes too as his hooves do wear faster (need tweaking rather than anything trimmed off) than the unshod gang but it is all still a mahoosive improvement...

Quite a few changes that include adding in the Pro Hoof - but very positive results so I believe it has had some impact...:)

To sky on the back of the packet it says for ponies use half scoop so that's 27grams (the scoop is 55 grams) so its only about 650grams used in a month!

My boy has good feet but barefoot, so I feed Fast Fibre every day even in summer and pick up supplements when they are on offer, so I have a sort of mix of things, at the moment he gets some Steady up for anxiety and to balance low magnesium and probiotics, also some Laminator [Equimins] for hoof as it is on at half price, some seaweed. Some = one third of recommended rate.
I did not go for pro hoof due to the cost, and the fact that my boy has good feet, just not rock crunching.
If the feet were bad I would try pro hoof for two months.

I've used it for quite a few months now and she was having micronised linseed too, untill ran out.

I've given it a good go and I think there is quite an improvment this year as her feet are not chipping and cracking as they would have other years due to the excessive weather changes.

She's shod all round and she's holding her shoes, we havn't lost one for months. However, I did have her on Mag-Ox, micronised linseed, brewers yeast and non molassed sugar beet before Pro-hoof and I think I had it about right anyway The only thing I would add now would be the copper tbh. So, due to the cost of the Pro-Hoof readymixed supplement, I'll be doing it myself in the future.
