Anyone use Westropp brushing knee boots or similar?

What knee boots do you all use and does anybody use the brushing knee boots? I have the old leather type ones and I have to do them up quite tight otherwise they slip, but my horse has a touch of arthritis in his knee and it can go up and down in size so I don't like to do them up too tight. I saw the westropp brushing knee boots and wondered what people thought of them as they seem like a good alternative?
 
I use the westropp ones and they are fab. Quick and easy to put on and don't slip, Velcro like normal brushing boots so nothing has to be strapped round the knee
 
They are brilliant. I had my horse for 18 years and only ever bought two pairs so they last well. You can use them as travel boots with a pair of overreach boots too.

I find them weird and don't like them. I much prefer the old type leather traveling boots to use in conjunction with brushing boots.
 
My horse has arthritis in her knees and these boots are fabulous. She wears them every time we go out & they've never fallen down or impeded her in any way. The couple of times she has fallen there hasn't been a mark on her. The last time the boots ended up with quite a tear in them, imagine if she'd not been wearing them!

Yes the Westropp brushing and knee boots in one are brilliant, they never slip and are comfortable for the horse. They are easy to put on and sit well on the horses leg. They are designed so they can't slip, and mine never have done in the twelve years I've been using them. I NEVER hack out without them as I a paranoid about broken knees. They give your horse freedom so you can also gallop and jump in them as they are not restrictive around the knee at all.

When I first had my horse I went for a hack with a friend who bought her friend on a little 11.2hh unshod pony. We cantered across a stuble field and this little pony stopped dead, and I didn't have time to react or move out of the way so my boy ran into the back of her pony. It kicked my horse, and the 'twack' was awful. Everyone jumped off and I was dreading what I was going to see, convinced my horse would have a smashed leg, only to find that her ponies unshod hoof had penetrated the knee part of the boot and slit it, causing a slight cut to my horses knee.

I know that if I had not put those boots on my horse that day I would have lost him, I am totally convinced of that. The damage was amazing from a little 11.2hh unshod hoove. I'd only had my horse about three weeks by that stage! Now eleven years on he wears them every time he hacks out. I can't recommend them enough. They dry out really quickly too when they are wet.

I think this is what I used to use on my mare. We had a lot of trouble with knee boots slipping down but when we bought her she had scars on both knees from a tumble she'd taken and I was wary of it happening again, so wanted her to wear something. She actually never stumbled, but I felt happier if she had knee boots on. I got hold of a pair of Westropp knee/ brushing boots and they were fab, really did the job :)
 
I bought a pair of those recently (having first sought advice on here!), and I am very pleased with them. Would definitely recommend.
I found mine nearly new on Preloved for a bargain price - might be worth a punt if you're not sure about sizing or whether the horse will get on with them. My 16h WB (woof wear medium front boots) has cob sized westropps, which are plenty big enough, if that helps at all.

I forgot to say in my earlier post, when my girl's carpitis got to be a real problem to her in the winter, either with the deep mud or over frozen rutted ground, I would turn her out in her Westropps - she couldn't bend her knees enough to sort herself out quickly if she got bogged down or tripped. I never saw any evidence of falls, but it made me happier knowing that if she did go over, her poor old knees weren't going to be damaged.
