Can someone give me an idea of how thick it is? Is it good for saddles that are slightly too wide?

Want to buy one for my lad, his saddle is a tad too wide for him at the minute as he's lost condition so I just want to pad it up until he gains the condition back.

Yes I've found a polypad doubler too much for a well fitting saddle, I find it will narrow the saddle by about half a size, as will a 1/2" prolite pad (standard half pad version), impact pad or 1" limpet pad. If you're going to buy a new prolite pad I'd get the one with the removable front riser inserts. It's worth the extra ten pounds for being able to narrow the saddle a whole size if necessary. New polypads are cheaper than prolite pads, but I wouldn't buy a second hand polypad in case it has gone flat with age. Prolite pads last forever.
