Ive got an older Amigo 200g, and I dont like the fact that they still dont have a fleece wither pad on the new ones. The material is quite sharp there.
I won't even buy a Mio, it's rubbish. Cheap material and looks badly made. I have the old style Amigo (before they brought out the Bravo and Mio) which is great.
I have an Amigo Mio as well as normal Amigos. The horses hair can stand up under the Mio as its so light so it is great as a rain sheet for the furries. The normal Amigo is thicker and better quality but all are good fit on my deep ID mare.
I have an amigo mio and in all honesty I'm not that impressed with it.
Like miss mistletoe said it's quite sharpish and rough on the wither, it has rubbed my geldings mane right off after not much use.
My boy is also quite broad around the shoulders and its fairly tight across there.
It's currently not in use as I am going to sew on a soft bit of fleece to go on the withers and also look to get a chest expander.
Wouldn't buy another one though!
Bought one for the older mare last year and as already said its not very deep and wasn't waterproof by the end of winter Mare normally takes a 6ft rug but in the Mio to get a decent fit across the chest and round the shoulders I should have got a 6ft 3. This year she is wearing a 6ft Shires MW and its a much better fit
Cheap material. Got one for my pony and left it hung over stable wall. It was on floor in morning and the whole inner seam had ripped along where it would sit along the spine.
He's pulled rugs off before but never had so much damage. I think it's due to poor making of the rug!
As others say above, save your money! Cheeky Horseware brought these out when the other 600d rugs were this option of lightweights, then pushed up the prices and re-named them as Hero is it? Better off buying a Shires Tempest..
last years mio was fine, the red and blue one! but i got a new one this year as he'd out grown a 6 foot and it was so short in the body! my friend also go one for her mare who's quite large in the body and it was terrible on her! didnt even cover her sides! that is the burgendy and black version!
I've just bought one and have yet to use it but I like the fact that their was no join between the neck and wither so no rubs. It fitted well too when I tried it on him.
I've just unwrapped one and put it on my youngster. Its a 6'9" and he looks gorgeous in it so far - about 5 minutes. It fits well but he isn't that broad across the shoulders. I put his old 6'3" amigo LW on his fat friend and its tight around the shoulders, but fat friend is very!
My gelding has just butchered his older Amigo rug, ripping it from front to back down the side, it had a few repairs to it but it's completely unrepairable now.
He's got a Rhino middleweight but it's a bit big around his shoulders, so I might sell it and get him an Amigo Bravo instead if the Mio's are useless.
I've just managed to get my mother to sew mine back up (she's not horsey but handy!) so hopefully I'll get some more use out of it, he'd only had it 2 weeks......
I have the 200g - fitted really well but a bit on the small side. Agree it was very light but only 600d and kept my boy warm and dry when it was absolutely blizarding and throwing it down!
I like the fact that they don't have fleece wither pads though - I find fleece just rubs.
I bought the lightweight - no fill. Got it new from Ebay (£28 I think). I find it roomy around the neck, fits well all over and stays put when my hippo rolls. I'm happy with it, it's doing its job.
