As title..wondering if it'll help with my naughty mare with a panic button!!
We have one, replaced a canter bar, as the thinking was you already hold the RS-tor rather than trying to grab the canter bar mid-spook.
Not that cob spooks at much, quite sane.
Yep, I have used one and posted on here about it. Have a look at the old posts since a few people talked about it
Heres what I wrote last time............
I bought it when I started riding after 30 years off and since I felt very weak and riding a spooky horse I didnt want to take any chances. As I progressed I used it for when I started jumping and doing XC. It does allow your hands to move while a neck strap or a balance strap dont - thats its key thing. The rubber section means it doesnt jolt your arm or shoulder much.
It did help anchor me for several spins and some leaps sideways but needs to be adjusted to the right length or it doesnt work so well. It made me feel a lot more confident and I didnt know I even had it in my hand. Its very comfortable.
A friend who used did say that when she fell off she fell so close to the horse that he stood on her, when otherwise she might have been thrown clean away. (thank goodness for back protector!) and the only time I came off when I was using it (cat leap over a 2ft9 fence) I landed standing up - which is good but also bad in that I could have damaged my foot.
It is very well made and yes it is expensive but I am sure if you dont like it you could sell for high price on ebay /preloved.
So - pros and cons really. I would use it again though if I had a new horse to ride and was at all unsure.
