I've heard aqueous cream is good for moisturising dry hooves, has anyone tried this? Am looking for something to help moisturise hooves after all this dry weather, anything else recommended? I do have some Kevin bacon stuff as well

Basically it’s water, and that really is the best thing for horses feet, good clean with a wire brush then 20 mins. soaking in spring /rain water 3 times a week.
I had horses going around Badminton in 1976 and that is all we did to keep there feet right, no cracks, no loose shoes, no bruised soles, and no concussional problems.
Any oil or preparation just blocks the periople and stops the feet from being able to control their own destiny.
If you want to send a cheque for £20.00 I will send you a bucket of H2O foot care liquid (I’d like the bucket back!)

I use Kevin Bacon liquid or Effol liquid

When I was a kid in the 70's my farrier used to tell us to stand our pony in the stream, so when we went riding we just used to stand them in the water for about 15 mins every time which was quite a few times a week

only £20?? that is way too cheap. Sometime was recomending a liquid hoof product costing more than that to me a while ago. I asked what was in it. She read out the first named ingredient, Aqua. I asked what aqua was? her face was a study. It was even more of a study when I asked the price and pointed to my hosepipe.

I just hose mine daily in the very dry weather. Costs nothing.

Hi Yes my farrier recommended me to use aqueous or E45 cream for my ponies hooves that had become quite cracked this summer. Seems to be working well at the moment. He did say shay some people like to soak the hooves with water and he did say the reason why he prefers not too, but do you think I can remember what he said, sorry it might come to me later!
