I use it for my windsucker, who also had a very bad temper and was difficult to keep the weight on - he is much more chilled now, looks a picture and keeps weight much better, although still takes some feeding! He also windsucks less, nowadays it is an occasional thing rather than constant.
Sorry this is turning into an interogation! Does your windsucker wear a collar, live in/out etc? Also what do you feed and how much work is he in? Thank you
He doesn't wear a collar, I am seriously against collars.
He is turned out no more than 8 hours a day as doesn't really enjoy being out - tried keeping him out 24/7 and it didn't work at all.
He gets alfalfa free chaff, spillers slow release energy cube, veggie oil, NAF Thrive and atm RedCell. He gets ad lib haylage. I also feed spillers instant response when I need more sparkle.
He is rising 6 yo, hacks out 2 times a week (one of which is fast work/gallops) schooled on the flat 2/3 times a week and jumped 1/2 times a week. I would call his workload medium/hard.
Thank you! I'm feeding the slow release cubes too but lacking "sparkle". Trying to keep his diet cereal free but most "sparkle" products tend to include them. Will keep scrutinising feed labels and ingredients! T'is a minefield
I've not tried "Thrive" so might try that before GastroCare or Acid Ease. Thank you for your help
Yeah, I know, ever so tricky to keep them energetic and keep the tummy under control.
I found that if I rummage through my chaff and find the molasses balls, they seem to give him the sort of sugar rush I am after in the ring
