I use it on my 18yr old WB and it does seem to have made a difference to his all round spookiness. He has also almost all but stopped running his teeth down the inside of his stable door so I do think it has combined with his low-sugar / low-starch high-fire diet made his tummy more comfy. It doesn't make so much difference in more exciting situations (like the gallops) where he can still be a bit of a twonk. But that is the WB brain I guess
Plain magnesium did not work on my horse and this supplement contains other stuff to support the gut. I guess it depends what you are looking for.
Ingredients: Contains per kilogram: Vitamin E 44,000 I.U, Magnesium 50,000mg, Thiamine Hydrochloride 80,000mg, Riboflavin 500mg, Folic Acid 300mg, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride 20,000mg, Saccharmyces cervisiae. With a unique blend of Liquorice and Silica for optimum gut health and absorption.
Did nothing for Fig. But know of someone who swears by it.
Cheap enough to try and then flog the leftovers if it doesn't work.
Have found ProKalm/science supplements and the SuperKalm/america equine, although the first is pricey and the dosage is high it is definitely effective.
Works great, like the fact you can change the dose to suit your needs, mine has half a scoop daily then if something is coming up I know will stress out mine I give him the full dose of 4 scoops
Works brilliantly with my German WB. It takes the edge of his twit tendencies but doesn't take away his character. We tried the Relax Me shot last weekend for a dressage competition. Worked brilliantly as I didn't have to up the powder and I got a horse that was thinking in a gale force wind! That situation would normally have turned him inside out. We've tried everything and swear by this one as its the only calmer that deals with tummies as well as nerves.
I thought my horse had improved on training alone, until we removed this supplement (thought we did not need it anymore), and within a week he was back on it! If he loses a bit of weight I find NAF "Thrive" does the same job, but it also slows the gut (so the blurb says), and I have found that it will put weight on and give a good appetite.
I tried them all with a previous horse, and these were the ones that gave consistent results.
I tried it on a young pony just to take the edge off spookiness for a month or two whilst we got out and about on our own... I think it had some effect but not enough to warrant buying it again. I have found that brewers yeast has worked amazingly well so am using that instead.
