ive just got a bag for my 16.2hh tb hes excellent in the menage but just freaks himself out when hes out hacking. hes only 6 so im not too keen on dosing him up on calmers before i try everything else. all he has other than that is hifi, garlic and pro feet

I only ever feed Allen & Page. R&R is a very good feed - remember to soak it before feeding though. If your chap is still a bit 'hot' on this, then why not try the quiet mix - it has a far lower calorific value.....

thank you. hes a worrier more than anything he scaires himself then gets scaired thet hes scaired too many things on the road happening at once

I tried it but my horse wouldnt eat it

. He isnt a fussy horse usually. What are you feeding at the moment? Maybe its just down to a lack of confidence if hes only hyper whilst hacking out. Could you hack out with another horse for a while to boost his confidence?

R&R is a fab feed, they look really well on it, and it keeps them chilled

As with ISZ, I only feed Allen and Page feeds now as my horse loooks great on it and they are very helpful!

IMO all the Allen & Page feeds are good, I used Ride and Relax for a horse with a sugar intolerance and he evented off it.

In your case though, from what you say about your horses behaviour, I am not sure it is a feed related problem, sounds more like a confidence issue on the horses part. If possible I would be doing lots of hacking with an old steady experienced companion and if necessary I would look at using a calmer to help your horse relax and realise that the big wide world out there is not as scary or exciting as he thinks. Not advocating you use a calmer all the time, but like many of these things they can be helpful in certain situations.

I have a Hann x TB who was a little sparky to say the least. I first tried him on Calm & Condition but that actually did the opposite & made him much worse. I tried Magic calmer & that did absolutely nothing either. In the end I realised that the Barley in the Calm & Condition was prpbably blowing his mind so I went onto Ride & Relax. The change in him was incredible, he came back down to earth, no more aching arms, he'd listen when being riden & was a pleasure to ride.

He's still on it now, he gets over 70% in dressage tests & jumps Newcomers & Fox. He is easily controlable but is responsive & his character is lovely.... I really recommend this feed, as you can tell.

I feed my Hanovarian x TB (who can be a bit sharp) on Ride & Relax, and he's much better on it (it's Barley free which I think sends some of them loopy!)
You don't 'need' to soak it though, not like you need to soak sugarbeet. My horse has it just damped down and is fine.

Calm & Condition is barely free, but contains maize, which is higher in starch than barley which would explain any crazy behaviour!

R&R also contains maize - the yellow stuff and there is loads of it in there!
