Anyone used 'Succeed'?

Hi,

I've popped this in here as it seems to be aimed at performance horses and the like and you lot are pretty on the ball when it comes to supplements...

My vet has kindly arranged for the Boy to be on a trial of a digestive supplement called 'Succeed' and will be starting it Saturday for 3 months. Just owndered if anyone else had given it a whirl and if so what results they'd had? It seems to be more US than UK focused...

He'll be on the paste and I am not connected this company in anyway shape or form other than I'm trying it!

My vet has also suggested this for my mare, I havent decided wether to give it a try or not as Im not sure I would be able to afford it if it does work!!!

The theory behind it is sound, science wise!!! I might go for it as its free and if its that great Ill have to find a way to pay for it!!!
 
When I was in the USA a lot of horses were supplemented with it, and it is their 'go to' supplement if you don't want to feed gastrogard - though things are much cheaper over there with respect to gastrogard as you can buy it over the counter branded slightly differently. I know Daniel Sibley also uses it on Tarmac Adam and rates it - he was telling me about it at an event last year as we rode to the XC start.
 
We used it on the yard I was based at in the US. We used it mostly as an all round supplement, seemed to do the trick never had any issues with colicing, ulcers etc horses looked fantastic on it as well. It wasn't a paste though that we used more like a tub of finely ground meal. We also got rid of a lot of the other supplements that the horses were on and just used this. Most of the top jumping yards in the US use it and its fine for FEI competitions etc
 
My horse has been on succeed since September and he looks great on it. His general condition has improved and he seems to concentrate more and spook less! He started on the paste and is now on the granules. I think it is definitely worth a go!
 
Oooh thanks for the replies! It is a free trial via my vet as vet thinks it may help his crib biting. I had a look on the website and saw the powder/granules and they seem to be a follow on.

I have 3 boxes (90 tubes of the stuff) which is 3 months worth and a bunch of paperwork to fill in so I'll be giving it a whirl starting tomorrow am. I'm sure the Boy will be happy as it means he gets an extra feed on a morning ;)
His condition has improved since moving yard and getting better quality forage and he's put on weight but I'm hoping this will settle him and reduce his cribbing.

Quick update, he's been on it over 2 months and I'm not sure it's made too much of a difference tbh....
He looks very well, but not really any different to normal, he has put on weight but has been doing that since before the Succeed started.

No difference to cribbing or general character either (which I had hoped it would help with). I spoke to my vet and he wasn't convinced it would make any difference either but thought it was worth a shot. I guess I get another shot at seeing any difference when the trial finishes in 2 weeks.

At least Red has been enjoying eating it and scoffs it down, he has even been known to try and eat the tube! :D I was hopeful it would make a difference as I like to be positive but seems this one might have got away from me....
 
hi, i tried this as i was able to get a years supply free from the vet, my mare would not keep weight on in the winter, i had tried all the build up feeds and nothing worked, the vet couldnt believe how much we were feeding and how skinny she was, she looked like a creulty case, we had all tests done, and nothing, so went to a talk with lucinda green on suceed, and it was fab, however although the mare looked well on it, it didnt stop her loosing any weight, and at £400 a pot i came off it as i dont think it worked for me either! im just glad my insurance company paid for it!!
