Anyone used the bowen treatment for their horse?

Superb results. I have used it on a number of horses and really seen a great improvement. I also have Bowen on myself and it literally cured a chronic and crippling problem I had suffered for many years.

Its incredibly gentle, much more so than massage or physio and it almost looks like the therapist isnt doing anything. The results however are fascinating and horses love it.

I would definitely recommend it but be sure you used a trained and qualified Bowen Therapist.

Which area are you in bosrebel?

totaly agree with spaniel - its a wonderfull treatment for horses (and people) - my mare had had a frozen shoulder for lord knows how many years - but having not really ever been ridden no one knew - i had 3 treatments of bowen for her and its cured - she moves so much freer and better - but please make sure you have a very well qualified bowen technition as i had one 2 months after i got the pony who said all was well, i rode her long distances before the lady i use now told me that she had a big problem with the shoulder - boy did i feel guilty at having ridden her thinking all was ok - if you live near me i can put you in touch with someone x

Had this done for both me and my horse when my friend was training. I found it very good, it was more a mental thing for me but definately helped me and Murphy loosen up and be more equal. He had been compensating for my weaknesses and then I was fighting what he was doing so we had been in a vicious circle before the Bowen. Afterwards we both improved in our dressage scores for tension etc.

My horse had this a few times when someone training for Bowen asked if she could practice on her.
Horse looked unimpressed and went to sleep. Even if it didn't work, it wouldn't do them any harm, though.
I do think you need to get a vet referral for it (yes, really) under the law, though.

I am based in dorset and my friend has just started treatment for her horse with steve chick? i havent bumped into her yet to see how its going.. but wondered what kind of charges i am looking at paying... i just want my horse checked over really, i dont think she has any major problems, its peace of mind for me....

Agree with all of the above comments - worked wonders for my old, stiff horse, now able to jump, gallop, compete etc & generally enjoy life. Also agree, use a fully qualified Bowen therapist, not one of these EMRT people, these are useless (sorry, thats just my experience)

My boy helped a friend pass her course!!!.... I recently got a therapist in to sort both my two after vet and chiropracter couldn't find anything amiss. The results were amazing. Money well spent

Have used Bowen on my gelding for last 3 years. When I bought him he was sold as very light hack at best as very disjointed with swollen legs each morning. 3 Bowen Treatments totalling £90 and he was put back together. His pelvis was not level (possible adapting after a fall/accident) and he was given general treatments all over with additional time on this area. I have now just completed his reg forms to affiliate him BSJA, he jumps xc and will do a great dressage test. I give him a treatment each year as a pick me up which costs £20 plus travel. Bowen may not work for every horse but gave mine a new lease of life. Worth a try....

What's an EMRT?

Is there a Bowen Registration site where you can look up who's professionally qualified and who isn't?
