I'm looking to get a control head collar for my yearling.
He's 19 months old and around 16hh. I'm having a bit of trouble leading him.
When we walk down the barn I'm dragged over to every horse that he has to say 'hello' to, and he will only move away when he's ready.
The concrete in the barn can be quite slippery so I don't want to fight him but he doesn't listen to me.
When we are outside if he sees something he thinks looks interesting, thats it, we're off! He *touch wood* has never bolted or been nasty, he just sees something that looks interesting and walks over to investigate whether I want to or not!
He's big, and he's growing quick.
I feel he's just starting to realise how big he is and I want to nip this in the bud if I can before we have an accident.

Doesn't have to be the 'TBK' one, thats just the type of thing I thought might work... Not keen on trying a dually.

Thanks!

I don't know what the TBK headcollar is like, however would highly recommend the Richard Maxwell controller headcollar. Used it many a time over the years, however never had to use it for very long, very effective for nipping potential problems in the bud.

Thanks LJR, I'll look into that one. I don't plan on using anything like this long term. He's a quick learner and is a real sweetheart to handle and in the stable. He just turns quite ignorant when outside. better things to do than listen to mum!
