Hi all
Have been lurking on here for a while and enjoying reading posts and advice.
Now comes the time for me to ask for some advice/experience etc etc
I have recently moved and am lucky enough to be enjoying having my horses at home. However am trying to sort out getting an menage sorted as will be needed for the winter. Has anyone got any experience of Premier Arenas?
Thanks x

No sorry, bumping for you

we used Ascot Arenas for our menage!

Recommend Paul all the way, own equipment, stayed on site until joy was done! Plus after sales 6 months later was superb! Cannot fault!

Thanks for reply foraday. Have had a few companies in - Ascot Arenas was not one of them - maybe I'll give them a call. Its really tricky making a decision on such a big outlay without some recommendations that don't come from the company you're speaking too!
Any other recommendations gratefully received! I'm in lincolnshire...

Thanks for replies so far -
Wispa - good to hear that Jonathan was super! He certainly has been very helpful so far.
Cedars - thanks re Maple - I knew I should have come on here sooner for recs!
As far as surface - I was going to go silica and rubber, now thinking silica and carpet fibre, have to say I hadn't considered wood fibre - always thought not a good longterm option?

Hi
We have just had a 40x20 arena built by johnathon at premier arenas in april this year.We had numerous site visits and quotes from nearly all the major arena constructors and not only did premier arenas beat them on price we also felt as though they could give you that personal touch even though we were up in yorkshire which they did.
Absolutley first class job.It was quite a lot of cut and fill which johnathon worked through very easily in spite of pouring rain .We have had silica sand and rubber which is lovely to ride on even though it hasn't been down long and still needs time to settle and mix.
The after service has been a god send.
Johnathon is always on the end of the phone to advise and help with the grading and maintaining the arena, and certainly gives you confidence.
A friend of ours who was going to build there own arena at the same time as us,came to see ours but on seeing premiers work they used them and are more than happy with the job.
On the whole i fully recommend premier arenas on doing a cracking job and giving us full confidence in themselves.

Go for it !

Can highly recommend KLH Arenas. Fantastic man, great at ground works, and very reasonable.
Never heard of Premier Arenas, but you've obviously got some good feedback.

Thanks for the replies - some good feedback! All very exciting ....... once we get the arena sorted I'm going to be sooo happy! x

We had Maple Arenas. They were fab.

We had them and while they did a nice job of building it the sand they used was terrible (very deep never bedded in) and the combi ride never helped as a stabaliser and rotted away completely in less than 4 years. I spent lots of ££££s and have a sandpit my toddler loves but that's all it's good for until I can get a new surface (from someone else) their aftersales when I complained was terrible - basically it's tough and I should run a set of sprinklers on it 24/7 for 8 months of the year !

Another vote for KLH arenas. Mine is simply stunning and am 100% confident in Keith's workmanship. He lives and breathes arenas and ground work so always does the best job he can. Only wish he could be around all the time! The transformation of my yard was unbelievable. :D

This is entirely different from our experience - 3 years on our arena is as perfect as the day it was put in, it rides beautifully and the combi ride and rubber does exactly what they were meant to. I still cannot recommend Maple to people enough. They recently came to relevel the sand (which happens when you build your arena over a 30ft drop!) and it was lovely to see them.

I had an arena built in January of this year by Maple Arenas with a sand and rubber surface. The sand was badly contaminated with stone which they had used under the membrane but some how had got mixed in with the sand. It wa also badly contaminated with clay from the adjacent field which they had bought in on the wheels of the tractor. I'm currently going round digging up grass and huge clumps of earth from the sand. the sand was not properly compacted and they had to come back several times to get it right, which took several weeks. I'm still a little concerned about the quality of the sand as it doesn't seem to be knitting together as you would expect with silica sand. I had rung several previous clients for references and they had been strongly recommended but I'm afraid my experience has left a lot to be desired

Another vote for KLH arenas. Keith and Carol are fab. He's just left my yard for the third time after firstly putting in my arena, then an indoor turnout, and finally an outdoor turnout. He does a fantastic job and goes above and beyond to leave everything smart and tidy, even fixing up things on the yard that weren't his remit. He's totally passionate about the job and I have 100% confidence in his work. The only problem is that it becomes an addiction seeing everything transformed in 1 week so you end up dreaming up new projects all the time!! ;)

Just a warning to anyone looking for a new Horse Arena - looks like Jonny or Jonathon Hunton or Collis - he uses various names - is still out there causing problems again, especially in the South West. It looks like his latest company name is GP Arenas or Grand Prix Arenas - other names have been/ or are Proline Arenas and Premier Arenas. Other victims have said he may be using other names and business names - there is more info here about that and various experiences of dealing with him.
If you are looking for a reliable, honest arena builder go and visit their customers and actually see their work, don't just ask online. The most important bit is the drainage - the bit you don't see. Arena owners will tell you if the arena floods etc and how good the work was. The cost of visiting one or two arenas is tiny compared to the cost of putting right a bad arena. And the problem is you may not know you have a bad arena for a few months or maybe a year - you have a 5 or 10 year verbal guarantee but then you find the company has changed its name and number and doesn't want to know.

Strange how all the GP arena /JH/JC recomenders have replied to no threads since the thread started and bar 1have not used the forum since, and h1976 only joined a couple of days ago. Seems a wierd thread!!!!

Companies house has no record of GP Arenas as a registered business, no record of Jonny Collis / Hunton or Jonathan Collis /Hunton as a director of any company. (Ouch)
It does have the correct John Collis, plus his wife as former directors of now dissolved arena companies.
I hope the poster on here gets her deposit back, it sounds as though she is not the first to be in this position.

@Horsiegirl1976 So sorry to read about your situation - that's awful! Any luck getting hold of him since? Jonny from GP arenas visited our yard for a quote yesterday and I've just googled to do my full homework...and found this eye-opening thread!
