My horse has reacted badly (gas colic) the last times she was wormed with Equest and Equimax, so I'm looking for an alternative. I'm thinking of a herbal wormer such as Verm-X but wanted to ask if anyone has experience of using this wormer. If it is gentle on the digestive system, and if it is truly effective?

Ive been using VermX for many years for one of mine who reacts very, very badly to chemical wormer.

He finds it very palatable (powder in feed for 5 days) and I have never had an adverse reaction to it. I worm count 4 times a year and have never had a count over 50 epg which is as low as you can go. If you are in a position to poo pck your grazing so much the better. You should get a tapeworm antibody blood test done though as officially the herbal wormers dont shift tapes but it would be worth your while phoning Verm X and speaking to Phil about this. I have chemically wormed for tapes once in the last 6 years by using this regime.
