Megazorb or similar under straw? My older horse has a fully matted stable with a good straw bed but is allowed free access to the yard. He's actually very tidy and only walks a little bit of straw outside when he mooches about but shavings or anything similar would go everywhere. I did try it once, never again!

He always pees bang in the middle of his bed and could do with something under the straw to soak it up a bit more

Ie used shavings or sawdust under straw for years. i find it a very good idea.

Oh that brightened my day just then custard! In the post listing it reads ANYONE USED CUSTARD. Thought there was maybe a health scare coming up - mad custard disease or something he he he x

I use shredded paper under straw. Its free from work and get a few big bags full a week.
