i need to start using this years hay as horses refusing what i have. it was cut approx 4 weeks ago and i plan to introduce gradually.

who else is already feeding this years hay ?

I will be in a couple of weeks, just one slice each, though. Last year I was literally using it as soon as it was stored (same amount). Didn't have a problem, but as I say, it's small amounts.

Yes, I have used three bales already. I think so long as it is dry inside then you are o.k. I introduced it gradually to mine with a couple of nets of some older hay I had left. I had no choice due to our YO saying he had lots of haylage and then writing on the board a week later that it had all run out (failing to meentioned that he had sold it off the yard for 25 quid a bale profit). I had to quickly source something for my horses as I am having to feed them continuously from nets due to no grazing.

We had to start using ours 2 weeks after the cut as no turnout. It has now been almost 5 weeks and all is fine. Horses were understandably over the moon; we give them a small handful of Blacksalt in hard feeds each day to aid digestion/gas/flatulence.

yes it will be a small slice at a time, so hopefully will be ok. i must be the only person with last years hay but the fussiest horses ever....

Yes we have been using ours (June cut) for a few weeks now. We had last years to mix in with it when we were changing over. I feed Think Pink as a matter of course which counters any digestive problems. I must admit I have always fed it fairly quickly and never had any problems!
