I just wanted to boast about my horse for a minute, please feel free to post about yours too, and how they're coping in the winter =]

My gorgeous nearly-18-month old girly has had just about everything thrown at her in the last few weeks. She's been in her box full time, apart from being out during the day on Sunday, for a week and a half. She's wearing a rug for the first time - firstly a fleece, but now a noisy-rustle-rustle-full-blown-adult-horse-stable rug. And, apart from climbing the walls a bit on Saturday (by this I mean standing with her head over the door neighing at me), she's been a dream to handle and be around.

I MAY be feeling very soppy as today she blew hot air down my neck whilst I was tying up her haynet, and then rested her head on my shoulders, but I love her and she is just so well behaved.

Ok, thats my boast over! Tell me how good your horses have been.

xxxx

Any invitation - my friends 37yr old has been poorly but has been very brave whilst having blood taken and being injected with a huge amount of antibiotic. Also we love her just for being her.

The big lad has just been a star, he's still new for us as only had him since September and he hasn't been ridden for five weeks due to weather but he has been a good lad especially for my best friend who isn't well and can't cope if he plays up. He has kept his cheekiness under control for her!

Love them both xxx

Great thread Flamehead! :)

my gorgeous mare has continued being gorgeous and fat and fluffy, despite having been abandoned several times over the past two months when I've had to go away for work (incidentally three cheers for my YO who's looked after said mare then). She's also calling to me from the field, admittedly only because she wants more hay, but it makes me feel loved. :D:D

I haven't ridden since last saturday, so Dela thinks she's retired and is loving it :) She responds to the command "Tiny Steps" when walking on ice, so she doesn't slip. I love my Dela pony :)

Another 3 cheers just for them being them. I have three beautiful horses, all special in their own way.
My gelding, who I have had for nearly 4 months, has turned out to be my horse of a lifetime - just what I have been looking for in every horse I have had.
My mare is so easy to do, not a pick of bother and copes with being shoved out in this weather!
My 2 year old is just amazing! Had her since she was three weeks old and she hasn't put a foot out of line
:)

WOW! Thats SUCH a good idea about the 'tiny steps' thing! *adds to list of things to teach my youngster when we get to play in the school* how did you achieve that?!

Well, she's a sensible horse anyway :P You just have to say "Tiny steps, tiny steps, tiny steps, tiny steps" whilst walking across the ice and she understands. Loose rope & walking slowly made her be careful :p Clever Dela :)

Wow well done you! My yearling was ok but our mare went flying walking across the yard. Thankfully stopped before fully landing on her butt!

Ruby horse is managing very well - even tho she & tiny pone are the only 2 still living out at my yard - she has managed to contain her boredom with only being ridden inthe small indoor menage & on sun led baby cob out for a VERY scary hack next to snow - well it was different snow to the snow in her field:rolleyes:

a hundred cheers for beau for showing me that it makes sense to send him away to be backed after watching him put in some almighty broncs yesterday!!! full on mustange style...i have a sticky bum but not that sticky!!!!

3 cheers for my fave girl Ayla for waiting for me whilst i slid down the hill on the ice and then looking at me as if to say "well done stupid"

3 cheers for Roxy for just being your general grumpy and very full of wind horse :P

Nice thread :)

Went to see my old girl yesterday, she currently looks like a hairy yak and is still pulling THE most amazing faces I have ever seen when rugging her up.

However having her whinney and start trotting over to me when I went to catch her (bear in mind I've just 'found' her again) was the best feeling ever :o
