I have a problem. I have a lovely Welsh B gelding and its a bit of a long story as to how I aquired him but he was taken on as a project, and I don't think its going to work out. He is a lovely friendly pony but so tense when ridden and easily scared eg if you just shift your weight he is frightened. My daughter got him going quite well then he napped a bit and when she asked him to walk on he jumped about and she came off. So unsurprisingly she isn't to keen to continue. so-would anyone want him to show in hand? He is well bred and flashy and only 8 years old. Such a waste but selling him into uncertainty isn't appealing. I would give him away if I knew it was a long term caring home-but do they exist?

Excellent news. Another route if you need it is via the Pony Club, they have some pretty brave little riders (and parents!). Also, if he panics when you shift weight it might be worth getting his back and saddle checked, it can be a sign that pony is sore. (Although the fear of pain takes a while for them to get over so don't expect him to be super steady as soon as that is fixed if it is a problem.)

An update! Our instructress has been this afternoon to assess him. She has worked him on the lunge twice and today came to try riding him. And he was great! A little tense to mount but once he was going round he was super. She loved him. Lucky she is petite so can ride smaller ponies. So we will let her work with him for a few weeks and then review. Would be so pleased if we could see him through. She said he has been well schooled at some point and he just needs work.:D:D:D
