I'll start... we've had Tala 8 months today and given that she'd spent 18 months in rescue with 3 failed rehomes and that someone who looked after her said they didn't think she would be able to live in a home environment I thought I'd do some bragging about what a good girl she is.
She walks lovely on the lead without pulling ( unless someone's dropped bread on the floor)
Is great with other dogs, reads them well and totally ignores the barking ones ( no matter how aggressive they seem) or the uninterested ones, will wag her tail and woo at the friendly ones but walks past without fuss when told.
No longer chases cats, squirrels, bikes, scooters or motorbikes.
Has a really good leave it ( except dropped bread).
Is much better now to brush or dry.
Knows where in the house she can and cannot go even if I leave a door open, stays off furniture and doesn't beg when we're eating.
Is just generally a fantastic happy girl.

My little rescue lurcher (we are her third family in her short life) made me very proud the other morning - we walk on a public footpath past a field that sometimes has loose dogs that like to come and bark at us through the fence. She now anticipates this and wants to go rushing over - and can do a very dramatic scream of frustration when not allowed! But the other day, although initially interested, she returned her focus to me really quickly, and walked to heel the rest of the way past.

She is generally very good, but these dogs just send her over the edge - they took us both by surprise the first time and she’s never forgotten! Since we’ve been training she’s so much better at focusing on me around distractions.

Had to laugh at your description of how well-behaved Tala is in the house though… our little madam is a terrible counter-surfer, very sneaky with it too - and would steal the food out of your hand (or even your mouth!) given half a chance 😂 she just can’t help herself from thieving! Apparently her sister, whose owner I have been in touch with via a DNA test website, is exactly the same. Whether it’s genetics or how they were raised in early life, who knows.

Aww go little lurcher! That sounds like a potentially challenging situation for lots of dogs.

Ivy made me proud at her rehab vet appointment last week. She's had a bit of a setback and we could see she had discomfort/pain but she still seemed to do her best to trust that the vet was going to help alleviate it. We call the sessions Ivy's spa day 😂

I was less proud a couple of weeks ago when she went to eat someone's cheese and biscuit out of their hand when we were having dinner at OH's parents. Very un-Ivy like behaviour usually. I think she's getting a bit bolder! Usually she is on her bed being A Very Good Dog but she very quietly came up next to the 'victim' who was holding the biscuit at snoot height while chatting, and I looked up just as Ivy was about to take her chance!

She sounds a complete little darling 😍
