Anyone want to CC this horse :)

shes lovelly :)

can i just ask - how did you teach her to canter?

ive tried poles/jumps etc with mine and shes just so damn lazy (and very green)! :D

p.s we dont hack either.

She could already canter before we bought her lol but she does have a bit of bother on the left rein getting the right leg!! I usually go on a circle ask for canter and if i dont get a respose the a tap on the shoulder with the whip works :D

Wow a few varying opinions but I guess most of you are experts in what makes good eventers and all have horses with perfect confo at home ;)

I quite like her. She will mature on and the back and hindquarters will develop. I would be tempted to educate for a bit then turn away for a few months before bringing her back into work slowly.

I think she looks a nice sort. Yes, she's upright though the shoulder but she has a good neck and I thinka short back is a positive! I would certainly get the lunging going correctly, with the help of a good instructor if you are having difficulties. I'm sure you are probably thinking you will turn her away for a short while at some time and when you do, it would be great to leave everything on a positive! I agree, it would be lovely to get her out hacking but that will very much depend on where you have to hack and who you have to hack with. Enjoy her!!

LEC, the OP asked for a conformation critique. Perhaps the people who have given their advice on the conformation of this horse have horses at home with bad confo which they can also see but it doesn't change the fact that this horse does have conformation issues.

I agree with your comments about turning her away as I think this could be quite beneficial for this mare.

She definitely looks a glenhill gold offspring :) .

I wouldn't go as far to say she was a "cut n shut" ..... far from it, seen far worse horses, She has a shortish neck, and a HUGE shoulder :D .....yes her feet are long but hopefully a good farrier will sort that out, her bum will hopefully muscle up and fill out through time and catch up with the front end (I have a 4 year old myself who is the same ;) ) .

Shes got a very sweet face on her .

Good luck with her :) and correct me if I am wrong but nice to see another n.ireland member :D

Thanks for all the replys :)
She was turned away for a month in Dec just before we bought her and shes been in work a total of two weeks now. So the plan is now to try and get someone who i can hack with twice a week, school once (20-30mins) and lunge once (for 10mins). Then turn her away in April-ish time as were not allowed 24/7 turnout until then!! Then bring her in end of june, do a bit of x country schooling and possibly turn away again followed by a sj and dr in dec/jan time :D

Ps Col yes another N.i-er :D

Were in Maghaberry about 15mins from Portmore Equestrian :D Gosh i havent been to a pleasure ride in about a yr and a hf  We went to Shanes castle 3 times within a yr so i can go round there with my eyes closed lol last time we went my boy decided he wanted to stay with the sheep and refused to load on the lorry, he repeatidly lay down on the ramp :o it was very embarassing!!!

I'm not very good with confo so i won't comment there!

But as far as her feet are concerned when i first got my warmblood his feet were very similar to hers, we used quarter clips (and a very good farrier :)) and it seems to of helped, it was.. .well is a long process to get them right after years of abuse. You might stand more chance with her being younger!

I think your mare is lovely, not conformationally perfect but hey who is? I don't think you're doing anything wrong, she will let you know if she gets fed up with school work. Hacking is great though for showing youngsters the world and lunging is great for keeping them fit but ultimately pretty boring for most. Good luck x

Ahh your not too far away, I'm about half hour/40 mins from Portmore :)

I was at the last shanes castle pleasure ride, it was a first for my 4 year old, and typically it wasn't an overly quiet ride due to a film crew in and around the grounds, Missy was fab though, she never batted and eyelid . :D

Will have to keep an eye out for the next one, you can let me know if you fancy it :D
