Due to time constraints i find it hard to get my older chap charlie (coloured below) ridden as much as id like. Currently I pay a 17yo girl down the road to come with me (she has her own ned) but so many non horsey people have said "I cant belive you actually have to pay someone to ride Charlie, there must be plenty of horseless riders that would jump at the chance"

............so here there you go! any takers?

He is 18yo (going on 5) 15.2hh irish cob. Not at all you steriotypical "lazy plod cob" but completley safe providing you are experienced rider. He is just great fun to ride!

Hi, unfortunately you are too far away from my couple of horsey friends who would prob love too.

only thought is my mum and a couple of friends have put adds up in mole valley and alike (once I told them to) and they got lots of phonecalls so its not just you, so keep an eye out or put an add up.

or contact local riding club, they might not have any members interested but a members horseless friend might be and we have non riding members who are currently horseless.

If it is for hacking only have you considered ride & lead? Otherwise perhaps an ad on Newrider etc in the share section? Some people will (eventually) want to be able to go out 'unsupervised' or at time that suits them but on the other hand lots of people don't want to hack alone (I don't, although I do if you see what I mean!) so you should be able to find a 'happy hacker' to accompany you...

Showing my complete lack of geographical knowledge...is Somerset anywhere near Exeter? I have a horseless friend who would jump at the chance but she lives in Exeter

I'd jump at it and know many others who would too, but it would be a bloomin long drive for me just for a ride!!!

Why not try your local BHS approved riding school? They probably have students that would be up for some extra riding or more able clients. Don't write off riding schools, the riders in my group lesson compete at Novice level dressage, and are riding above stage two level, none have their own horse due to time/finances etc but all would love an opportunity to hack out.

Next time I am down in Bicknoller I will E-mail you! I love riding over the Quantocks and also riding down the beach to Minehead. It is a lovely part of the world and we used to go hunting on the Quantock and Exmoor. Used to keep the horses at a Point to Pint yard at Bicknoller. Hope you find a nice local to ride your horse.
