So I'm now in the position to start the buying process for a new neddy!

I've viewed one so far, was lovely... Until I went for the second viewing where he proceeded to bolt and buck like billio... And I now believe he had either been doped or worked into the groud before we saw him the first time!!

So anyone fancy seeing what they can find, I'm looking for 16hh and up (although if 16hh needs to be a bit chunky as I'm 5'10"). Backed and ridden away so 5ish to 10 years old (would prefer younger in that scale) mare or gelding not a problem, a general alrounder type. Happy to have a bit of a project but don't want anything with 'issues'. I'm also erring away from TB's although won't totally discount. Budget is £2k, but could go up for the right horse, I'm in Leicestershire but willing to travel within reason!

Anyone bored and wants to help?
 
Thanks faracat!! Particularly interested in the last one. The first puts me off, I've already got my old mare with one wonky leg, not sure I'd want to take the risk with another! 2nd looks nice too, although a bit older then I want and a bit of a drive, but will put into my 'maybe' pile!
 
I can see why you are having trouble - I could find loads that fitted your criteria except for height. How about chopping your feet off so that you can have a 15.2? :p :D ;)

I'm not too sure about flexion tests (as in how reliable they are, as I've been told by several Vets that you can make any sound horse lame with a FT if you so desired) but I can see why you want to be cautious.
 
Thanks both, faracat I'd love to lop a few inches off my legs, would make a lot of things easier, especially finding trousers long enough!! let alone horses tall enough!

Yeah think Storm is the same in both adverts, he's definitely going into the maybe pile, but he is that bit older than i really want.

RE: the flexion tests, yep I think any vet can lame a horse, but for it to be mentioned in the ad and for him to be advertised so cheap and as a 'happy hacker' I would assume there is more than meets the eye?

I've fallen for an 18hh horse on HHO - way to big and very impractical but looks beautiful!

ETA - for the mare called Diva, she's been advertised for a long time (i have been keeping an eye out for a couple of weeks) and the 'silly when jumping' isnt ideal for me as i'm just getting my confidence back over jumps...

The flexion test one is a bit dodgy - since when have flexion tests been done on forelimbs?
Also doesn't give confidence when it is a dealer pretending to be a private seller.
This also applies with a couple more of the other adverts above.

Just to say they do flexion tests on front legs :)
 
I have always seen flexion tests done on fronts...? All round in fact... The private Vs dealer isn't something I've spotted in any recommended above, but have seen plenty elsewhere!!
