this is my response from the beeb:

Thank you for your e-mail. We raised your concerns with BBC Sport who have asked us to pass to pass on the following response:

"We are very sorry that some of the coverage of the Burghley Horse Trails on the red button was not up to standard. For a period of time there were technical difficulties and some issues with how the resultant problems were dealt with. We will do all we can to ensure that these failings are not repeated, and apologise to viewers whose enjoyment of the event was marred."

Well the 'Burghley Horse Trails' bit was what caught my eye first off! Lol
