Hi all,
Just trying to take a look at my 2 year old TB x 's breeding to see if any of her thoroughbred lines are any good (purely interest) but am struggling to find out much about her sire Rebelsway, his sire Swinging Rebel or her damsire Northern Tempest, all weatherbys registered TB's. If anyone knows anything about these 3 or progeny or can direct my to where I might be able to find out more I would really appreciate it, although possibly a massive shot in the dark! Thanks

All TBs are derived from three stallions, the Godolphin Arab, the Darley Arabian, and the Byerly Turk.
TBs differ from UK native ponies who derived from hardy stock.
If you want to win the English Derby you need a horse with a bit of stamina. To win a five furlong race for 2 year olds, you need a precocious type.
If you want a horse to ride or compete, it is unlikely you will find one of unknown breeding who will star at the top level, but you may be lucky.
Having said that: horses are what you make them.
Look on the Racing Post website.

Northern tempest bred more flat winners than jumps, however no big ones. His best jumps horse was rated 91 on the racing post which is slightly below average. His best horse won 4 times at around 2 miles in chases and one hurlde, then once on the flat.

Rebelsway's horses never won anything

All from racingpost.com just type in the horses name :)

correction: his best rated horse was over jumps, rated 98 which is average/slightly below. Horse was called Golden Madjambo. Type his name into the search bar on racingpost.comyou will find past owners trainers all race records etc. The horse rated 91 that i was on about before is called northern optimist!

Sorry if thats a bit confusing!

She should be registered with weatherbys (spelling?) . if you go onto there website and type in her name you should be able to see her family tree including winnings of parents etc :)

Wow thank you for all the replies, unfortunately her previous owners didn't register her with weatherbys and I have yet to do that! Didn't think he could have been anything particularly special but interesting to know, hopefully she will make a nice eventer or if not a riding horse for someone else! Will check out all the linked websites, many thanks!

If you want to register her with Weatherby's then it is going to cost you a lot for a late registration. Something like £375 + blood test and vet to do the papers!
Never worth it if you have no intention of racing her.

I wouldn't register her as a racehorse, just change her passport.. But I doubt I will be bothered with the expense. Ahaa I'm assuming Northern Dancer is good then!
