Sorry to put here rather than regional board but more traffic

Tom Myles has posted about how the local authority still will not allowed indoor arena use. They have 2 huge indoor arenas and they are not allowed even one person at a time. They are not allowed to have groups either so means they can’t even use the outdoor (again huge) to put on shows. Yet other indoors are allowed to be used. They are struggling to survive with hires of the outdoor only. He has posted on his Facebook page. I’m not sure what we can do but the threat of loosing Howe for good is worth raising the issue in the community.

The local council don't like Howe because they, and competitors, often complain about the smell from the landfill site near by. It really is vile!!!

I don't know if other indoors in Fife are being allowed to be used. I don't really know of any to ask. But I wouldn't be surprised if Howe are being singled out!

We could all bombard the local council calling them idiots! But they may not like that!

Horse Scotland and BHS Scotland are speaking to Sport Scotland about it.

I don't know if emailing the local SMP would work?

Why are local authorities making up their own rules? Indoors have been allowed to have been used since end of June in Scotland, I'm sure? I'm not sure North Lanarkshire have their own set of rules and even if they did, I'm not sure I'd know about them without actively looking for information. Granted local libraries aren't open yet but that's because they need to plan for opening - it's just that libraries can open, doesn't mean they will.

Gleneagles are running a dressage show on wed, warm up indoors. But different council. I have no idea why it is down to local authorities and it dose rather sound like Howe are being targeted unfairly. I think tho that it everyone goes in guns blazing to the council they will get peed off and less likely to allow it.

Because indoors schools haven't been specifically listed on the governments plan of reopening the Fife council are being dicks. The main environmental guy at Fife council doesn't like Howe. He has the power to shut them down at a moments notice and if they even so much as toe the line they will be closed down indefinitely.

They are strung up against the wall.

I Know Morris is only running outside at the moment and I believe Muirmill is the same?

Does BHS and Horse Scotland say to refer to the individual council in their Covid guidance? Fife do seem to be being awkward as I know lessons have started up indoors at some places on the west coast and obviously shows are now starting up again

I thought that all indoor venues had had the go ahead again? There seem to be plenty who are now up and running with lessons and clinics?

I know the Scottish Government don’t support rural activities or anything that doesn’t make them money, but this is going beyond it now.

Someone official needs to make this clear as venues are going to suffer and we could lose so many of them.

That’s appalling..all the indoor arenas near us are being used for training...there’s more social distance space in them than in schools pubs or restaurants!

The problem is that Scottish government have said yes. But it still has to be approved my local authority. And it is then who are saying no and also saying if you push it we will close you down entirely.

They need to take this further. It’s totally unfair that the local council would do this to them. Howe is a brilliant facility and losing it would be a massive blow to Scotland.

This is appalling, I have followed the Scottish Government guidance via Horsescotland and BHS Scotland where it stated that indoor arenas were in fact covered arenas due to their ventilation and airflow and as such were able to be used within the guidlines on group size etc. At no point did I see anything saying you had to check with your council.
