my boy has lots of feather, well he did anyway as they seem to be getting shorter and shorter?! is there anything i can do/feed him that will keep his hair nice and healthy and help it grow back? i was thinking linseed, or is that more for the skin?
thanks in advance!

could he be rubbing? we have a few hairy cobs and over time their feathers have come and gone, we have very marshy stoney fields, could friction be rubbing them away?

possibly, he is on quite marshy land and its only round his toes where they are going. is there anything i can do to stop it from happening?

hmm...
camrosa claims to be a wonder product, but im sceptical...

sorry, no help! ill ask helen if she knows

Linseed is great, as is brewers yeast for itchy skin. I will also send you a long PM about hairy horses having several of my own.

One thing, at this time of year feather looks it worse - they moult out - Chancer has really nice hair in winter but now I am using pig oil, megatek etc to keep it as thick as possible.

Last year with it being so hot they were even worse.

I'm glad you said they moult out Theresa lol because I was getting worried as both my lads have had some feather hair falling out recently too.
Just glad it's not my own lol bad enough having a lot of grey lol.

Sounds very much like bog burn to me. My boy has feather and was kept in a boggy field over winter, the mud causes the hair to break off, leaving it looking like it has been clipped. It started around the toe on my lad, then extended further and further up. If he is in a muddly/wet field, then there is nothing you can do about it. When it dries out, they will gradually start to grow back through. I wouldn't hold your breath though, my boy was taken out of the boggy field at the end of March and I am STILL waiting for the feather to grow back properly!!
