Ive only been a dog groomers' assistant for a few months (am 30 but never knew how to get into grooming until i got this job) Im really enjoying it- at the moment i mainly do bathing, drying, nail clipping and a tiny bit of clipping, (just backs) but hope to get my qualifications within the next few years:D
Anyway, just wondering if there are any other groomers/ assistants out there? x

Yep as mentioned, I do not in a parlour mind u, I did when I did my initial training and then I opened a parlour (got poorly) and calmed down and now do it from home (select few clients) you will now know how back breaking it is? but get a fab sense of acheivement when looking at ya master piece of a cut:rolleyes::D:D

I work in Boarding Kennels and do most of the grooming we get in, unfortunately we get all the dogs no one else will take, which means I spend my life de-matting Cocker Spaniels and avoiding Border Collies' teeth

Yep, have my own salon. I started at 30ish as well - and I love it too.

Where are you located? I might know the groomers (I tend to know lots up and down the country from grooming shows/competitions).

A wee suggestion is to join a grooming forum or two. There's a few out there. I moderate on one called The Groomer Mill

There's even a horsey section too :D

I am not working in one, but am currently doing my training with one. I am training for my C&G Level 3 Advanced certificate in dog grooming. I needed a change in career, working with animals is most definitely the way forward!
