As title really.
i have had a bit of trouble sourcing local hay so have had to eeek my hay out a bit - i thought i would just feed a 'section' of haylage in with the hay to make it go further but today i tried to school and he went mad!!! bouncing and spooking. could that small amount of haylage make such a difference??

Not haylage, ours are fine with that, thank goodness, but I've known horses react badly to less than a teaspoonful of various substances, so I can certainly believe your situation.

Yes, but it depends on the haylage. I once bought a bale of Marksway ryegrass haylage for my Irish sports pony. It sent him crazy, spooky, jumpy and fizzy. Just far too rich. But he was fine on various high fibre haylages, and my current ponies, all Foresters, are fine on high fibre haylage.
