Ugh.... he is not barefoot and this is the foot that has the special shoes and pads and needs it the most....

Honestly... I thought I was just making some headway... waiting for farrier to message me back.... :(
 
I feel your pain ? I've worked so hard getting Xander to hold shoes but he lost one last thurs, got it back on yesterday. He doesn't require pads or anything yet but farrier said yday he's never gonna be a barefoot horse, his feet just disintegrate when he loses shoes, been over a year since we lost his last one.

Dad and I were joking he's like the Imelda Marcos of the horse world, new set every six weeks

You did well finding his shoe & accessories, your field is huge!

Glad you found it.
Being married to a farrier, he would suggest that you reduce the size of the turnout area drastically, if possible, as pads are prone to coming off when horse can hoon about in bigger fields.

Unfortunately not an option. He is out in a herd and I have no say where he goes. Its here, or an even bigger field with more horses. Its the first time its come off in 3 weeks so I guess that's better than most

Glad you found it! I feel your pain, my pony was barefoot for years so always loses hers; especially with covid i just want to scream every time! it might be worth having a look at protective horse boots instead, and keeping him barefoot if he's losing them too much?

I would say I have it twisted but I will check tonight. Another thing to add to my list which is ever growing :(

I cant keep him barefoot, he is having his feet rebalanced at the minute and physio and farrier and vet have all recommended shoeing for this. Thank you though :)
 
Sorry I didn't explain it very well thanks ycbm.
I know we've had conversations about him not going bare with everything else going on with him right now, but that was a view we probably haven't seen before (without shoe) and it made me curious if ti was true or mud :)
 
I've no idea if I'm honest. I will try and take a better photo tonight. I've still not managed to get farrier to firm up when he can come and put it back on, and he has vets on Monday for his stifle issue so probably not going to be able to do that now.
