Hey everyone,

I have been looking at horsemart, horsequest, HHO of course, any other places to find me a new equine friend? Looking for over about 16hh, all rounder type nothing too fancy required!

I would be especially interested in any websites local to cambs, or if you know of any dealers etc in that region (up to about an hour's drive).

Need to take a tour of some saddleries and things I think...

Am upping my budget a bit who knows what I'm going to end up with ;-)

Go round all the local tack shops and trawl through all the trash thats put up on the facebook groups and you might be lucky. But I think that the local tack shops will be the best place.

Oh yes I had forgot about pony club! Good idea!

Facebook groups is also a good plan, where to start though, eek!

Think I am going to drag my visiting non-horse friend to a few tack shops on Saturday, she's going to love it!

Thank you :-)

I've got a friend selling a 16hh / 16.1?? gelding. He 's about 8 or 9. Bay middleweight. Sweet chap. Hunts and Hacks. £3k I think. Norfolk.

We went there a couple of times and liked what we saw. Not top end but certainly not bargain basement. Think she has a Facebook page as well - lost out on a lovely colored youngster as we were not bold enough to put a deposit down without a 2nd viewing - ho hum. Sue Cox near Thetford (Kilbally Horses) has some lovely but quite pricey ISH and a good reputation

Have you also tried good old ad trader and preloved. I was having a peep at ad trader this morning and saw a lovely 5 yo 15.2 Cob in Wisbech. Must stop looking now we have found a horse - its so addictive.

Good luck in your search

Hi, Rands and Wilson Feed Merchants near Brandon have a notice board with all sorts of ad's on inc 'for sales', if you're out that way on your drive with your friend they might be worth a look in :-)

Good luck!!

I have a very nice grey the one here that is doing nothing due to not having a rider, I might loan or if you want somthing to ride you are more than welcolme . i am nr Downham market.

I'm selling in grantham but only 15.3 and u don't say what u want to do. Mine's dressage and hacking will jump but not brave. Stunning looking though. :-)

I also know a couple of sellers to avoid if you wanted to pm me too! Be particularly careful on the Facebook groups! I've never seen so many dodgy wannabe dealers in one place before!!

Bearts in Stowbridge have a big folder full of horses locally for loan and sale.
Good luck with your search!
Stateside, your horse is stunning!

We have found ours through:

horsemart
Adtrader ( really good for horses who dont seem to be advertised anywhere else)
horsedates.co.uk may have a few on
Absolute horse/ regional magazines may have a few in if your near Alans Ark pick up some
The Jays (our lifetime horse came from Andrea Pearman) although dont sell many but what they do are amazing.

im in cambridgeshire and have a 16.1 for sale 4 yr old tb (although u wouldnt believe it!) absolute gem!! pm for more details :)

Wow thanks for all the replies everyone! Have joined all the facebook groups! Looking at the Chilvers farm one now and there are some nice ones on there, I like the look of 'Jewels', ID x TB would be great :-) not keen on massively hairy cobs myself!

I'm still trying to find a suitable place to keep the horse at the moment (Fen Ditton, Waterbeach anyone? No?)

Basically I have never had the opportunity to compete on any of my loans (no transport, horse too many issues/hack only) so at 25 I am going to get started and try everything I can and maybe win my first rosette (will probably cry).

I would like a horse that could progress as I progress, I was thinking age between 6-10, Would like them to know the basics and have done some jumping but doesn't have to be very high(I haven't done very high). I am quite keen on groundwork and schooling also and will have lessons.

Stateside - your horse is beautiful! Downham Market would be too far for me though :-(

Oh I meant for a loan as Stateside mentioned (assuming they don't want the horse to be moved here). I will travel pretty much any distance for the right horse but local would be good for viewing purposes as I don't really want to be driving all over the country when I don't need to! and would like to visit chosen horse at least twice :-)

Thanks for the link :-)
