AP McCoy - 4000 winners

Enjoy it, we will never see another jockey achieve what AP has.

If you ever have the opportunity to hear him speak at a function it is well worth it.

History has been made in the horse world today, has no one noticed ? This is a real horseman that has earned respect in a way we will never see again.

It was so lovely to watch the race. On paper nothing special, but it was oh so special. AP was clearly relieved and delighted to have achieved the seemingly impossible. And the other jockeys were equally delighted for him. It almost bared resemblance to him winning the national!! He is a true legend, and I'm delighted for him.

Saw him on the news with his family around him, I think maybe he knew it might be today. Hopefully Ch4 will do a good montage on Saturday :)

Brilliant finish from AP in his typical never say die style and a bit of a scare when the jockey who lost his leather had to dive out the side. He has been great for NH racing and his success today is getting lots of coverage. Legend.

A.P.McCoy is unique, and I doubt that we'll ever see his like again. He's more than just a first class jockey, he's a first class ambassador and a first class man. His measured thoughts with his modest delivery, when he's interviewed, leaves no doubt as to his sincerity. As others have said, he's a legend.

I didn't see the race, but doubtless it'll be on The Morning Line. (It better be!!)

Alec.

Can only echo what others have said. A phenomenal achievement from a top class jockey, ultimate sportsman and true professional. An ambassador and an inspiration - fantastic day for the sport. Well done AP!

I live about 40 mins away and was toying with going for most of the morning, so glad I went in the end - I got a video of him being led in after the race, fantastic afternoon. So glad it was at my local and free to get in course. I have never seen it so busy at Towcester - all there to see history in the making.
The smile on AP's face was something else. What amazes me is the amount of people that bellow good luck to him and actually expect a response - the guy had so much pressure on his shoulders today and did a fantastic job.
Was funny when he punched the air and the horse reacted so he made an odd face and tried a slightly less exuberant air punch a bit further down the walk.
Jonjo was very smiley and thanked me, when I said well done as he followed AP back into the winners enclosure.
What a day :-D

Fantastic - you can see the end of the race on BBC Sport website. What a finish! Finished his autobiography last month and he now needs to write an update to it. Interesting to hear him say it's only the 4th time he's been pleased with his performance; he is so incredibly tough on himself. Legend.

Well done AP, hope he manages to celebrate it at some point

They are celebrating tonight - big party at his pub!!!
A fantastic achievement for a supreme jockey and horseman. How fitting that it was a Jonjo trained, JP McManus owned horse and a ride that was so typical of his never say die attitude. He was beaten 2 out but he inspired a young green horse into finding gears it didn't know it had without hurting it. Pure genius.

Fifteen thousand races, one thousand falls, four thousand wins, he surely is the bionic man!
Just think about those statistics, mind boggling.
Glad to read he's also made himself a few quid, hope he can put his feet up at some point and enjoy himself
and his family.
A total class act, no wonder he's so well liked. Modesty and ability in equal measure, a gentleman too!
Hats off to him all round I hope.

Brilliant achievement but how does his wife cope with her husband risking life and limb every day?

Enjoyed listening to his interview on the radio today. When asked how he did it said down to the horses! What a guy!

Not only was it owned by JP, trained by JJ, but it was an ex irish point to pointer, which won its point under the mountains of Mourne at Tyrella, which is as everyone knows is in Northern Ireland, home of the top National Hunt jockey. Meant to be. Written in the stars methinks.
