He should have won it years ago in my opinion, but maybe his National win will bring him to the attention of the mainstream sports journalists who control the column inches and probably therefore the nominations.
His professionalism, will to win and determination in the face of injury ie at Cheltenham put him a mile ahead of your average premiership football player in my opinion.

Although he is a great rider (and to be honest, there are others on par, i.e. Ruby Wash, Choc Thornton etc), if he is to win the SP of the Year because he won the Grand National at last, then no, that does not do it for me. I would prefer to see some more of the trainers getting better recognition, i.e. (Sir) Paul Nichols
