AP to ride Kauto???

However, he's not just getting off his daughter's ordinary pointer, he's getting off a top class horse that has won for him at Cheltenham and Aintree. I just checked his form, and he hasn't 'got off' him before - the last two times he was in the same race but not on him was when he rode Exotic Dancer for Jonjo, who he was committed to ride.

And please point out where I said I didn't like AP, didn't want the race to go ahead, or didn't want Kauto to win?

As I said before, I understand why, I'm just disappointed.

He was no more committed to Exotic Dancer than Alberta's Run. He chose ED over AR. Winning is what motivates him so he wants to be on the horse with the best chance.

Yes, that's what I find disappointing.
I like to see loyalty. Dunwoody stuck with Dessie for his last KG, Francome stopped the championship when Scu broke a leg.
If he wasn't AP, he wouldn't get to get off the horse, and nobody should be bigger than the integrity of the sport.

I really dont wish to argue just look forward to seeing the horse run, but for there to be more integrity in horse racing there are a million other things that need to be sorted before worrying if jockeys are being loyal enough to certain horses.

Of all the things that disappoint me about racing it isnt the choice of rides by a jockey, of course they want to win but considering every ride could be there last if they were seriously injured i think it is only to be expected that any jockey would jump at this kind of ride.

They have a limited shelf life in what they are doing and i dont begrudge any of them taking rides they feel they really want, i agree when they are the top ones they get more chances to do this kind of thing but that applies to everything in life, when you get to the top you can pick and choose.

I think by reports at the moment it doesnt look like it will be going ahead anyway so maybe by the time it happens if it is true what the weather reports say and the freeze is going to last it may be put right back and Ruby will be back on board and as he and the horse know each other so well that will be the best outcome and it was a shame he was loosing out on the ride in the first place.

Hopefully the next thing we are writing about this will be congratulations on thier win.:)

didn't Woody get off Dessie in the Tingle Creek to ride Waterloo Boy?

He was attached to the Duke tho', wasn't he - he would have had to ride for him.........?

ETA, I'm not trying to make a big thing out of this - all I said was I was disappointed, which is an opinion to which I am entitled, and was told I shouldn't have that opinion if I wasn't at AP's level.

I respect AP enormously, and I understand why he did it. But I'm still disappointed.
