Hello everyone, havent been on here in a very long time, just the occaisional lurk here and there...not loving the new forum, it has changed my back to my original username, from when I was about 14!

Anyway a how much, I have finally faced facts and have firmly assured myself I cannot continue to cart my horse all over the country with me as I persue different dreams (uni in hull, job in cornwall etc). Very sad sale but now I am almost an AI I will be taking up jobs wherever and whenever the come, and I am taking a wild guess I will find it difficult to fund Pony. Enough rambling.

15.1 Bay Gelding, 11 yrs. Absolute hunting machine, I trust him with my life, this does not mean he is a plod, infact, he is rather strong but I have hunted and teamchased him in a snaffle with no more than sore shoulders the next day. He is so gentle and has a lovely manner in the stable/field, sometimes a bit difficult to catch and very wary of new men, but he has been knocked about a bit in previous homes and I dont think he will ever get over that. He will, however, most definately NOT school, he is lungeing lovely with side-reins/Pessoa but he has a mental block in his head which prevents him from doing anything near nice flatwork, he would just like to canter everywhere and get stressed. He can manage a slight resemblence of schooling in a field though, and we have been to some SJ clinics, I dont think he likes being enclosed.

On the other hand, for somebody who is confident and capable, he will provide the most fun you have ever had hacking/hunting/HTing/Teamchasing. He is 100% to clip, shoe, box, water, traffic and if I have missed anything here he will definately give it a go.

Please could some of you tell me how much you would expect to see him for?

Thanks for your time :)

No idea on value hun.

I think there'll be lots of people thinking 'it's sad because he's had a bad time in the past and now he's going to be moved on again', which may affect their views and responses.

Just thought, why not post this in Hunting? You will get more people who understand the value of hunting horses in there.

I've ventured out of the hunting forum (bravely)!

Who has he hunted with? Is he scopey? Is he mannered?

If he's hunted with some big packs and is well behaved (stands at the meet, on point etc) then he's very saleable - if not, then you might struggle.

At this time of year, very few people are looking for hunters - you'd be better off advertising him around August onwards

I would say to the right person, probably about £2.5 - could be more without his issues - and again, depending on who you've hunted with.

BTW Mrs M - a bit harsh to criticise someone for being sensible and accepting that her finances dictate the sale of her much loved horse - I'm sure the OP would rather keep him forever, but that would be in a perfect world. :P

If you re-read you'll see that I didn't criticise OP. I was trying to figure out why no-one had responded to her post, and think of ways of helping her find out what she needed.

OK thanks guys, yeah he has hunted with the Zetland, Rockwood and South Durham, will jump anything and had stood nicely for me plently of times when I have been sipping on port and eating crunchies!
