Has anyone else had problems with a certain green bus company? I have had uncountable rude drivers but tonight just took the mick.

A guy was wanting to get on the bus but was waiting for his pregnant girlfriend to catch up, he said. Bus driver turned around, said "unlucky" and shut the bus door in his face and drove off.

I am absolutely appalled by this and am going to complain. Not sure if I am so shocked because all my jobs have been in retail where the customer is number 1, but to me this is disgusting.

Disgraceful! Some are just pigs full of attitude, worst experience for me was when I was on a bus with my son who was around 5 then, a drunken lout with a Staffordshire Bull got on the bus and threatened everyone, the bus driver grabbed his stuff and jumped off the bus and left everyone on there with the doors shut!!!
Luckily we were sitting near the back, I grabbed my boy shoved the emergency doors and jumped out into the main road, I rang the company to complain and they didn't give a ****, so I told the newspapers (who got a better response)

Do complain, the bus company are likely to take a dim view. If they dont, go to the papers and they soon will. And if the bus co get subsidy for the route from the council, kick up with them too.

Bus drivers get a bad time from badly behaved passengers - which I have every sympathy for - but that makes it all the more important that they treat customers who dont behave badly, just try to catch the bus - with respect and fairness.

There is a well known case in Aus where a bus driver did not stop to pick up a lone 13 yr old boy because the bus was "full". A few minutes later he accepted a lift from a stranger, and that was the last anyone saw of him. It was about 7-8 years ago (from memory), his remains were found about 18 months ago, and the trial of the accussed is in progress now. He had a twin brother. The bus drivers at least morally have a duty of care in certain situations like this.

I dated a bus driver once and he would never do anything like that!
In fact, he was put in the same situation, but he waited for the lady, despite other customers telling him to 'just go'.

There are some bloomin' rude ones though!

I was absolutely gob smacked and was going to say something but bit my lip cause Sod's law I'll see him tomorrow!

Jeeve that's terrible, made me feel a little sick.

Certain bus drivers have also refused entry to disabled people due to "lack of room" when there has been more than plenty. Makes me so mad..how are these people getting jobs?!

A few years ago I was on a bus in London. Bus pulled up at the stop and a young girl (well teenage but in school uniform) was running full pelt down the road waving and yelling for bus to stop. Bus driver saw girl and waited. That was until she got to the doors when he then he shut them and drove off! He actually waited for her to run all that way and then drove off. I was gobsmaked and I did think how awful if she now has to walk home and does get attacked. Stupid arrogant man

But some bus drivers are decent like my dad for instance. On a normal route one morning in London,an odd looking man jumped on the bus and took him self to the back of the bus to where a young girl was sitting.Anyway all seemed fine till he could hear the girl asking this man to stop and when he looked in his mirror was shocked at what he saw!He was sexually assualting her whilst everyone just ignored her.The best way my dad could describe what he felt was 'I got 5 girls and thought what if that was one of you',well with the way my dad was feeling and what this man was doing he hauled on the brakes and flew to the back of the bus and beat the pulp out of him and threw him off the bus and just layed in a heap by the side of the road.My dad did get a discaplinary for his actions although nothing was reported but he felt he had to own up to it.Now my dad is a big guy and used to have a reasonable temper, but I was proud of him and told him I was proud of him,he later found out the young girl was 13 years old and sent a letter to my dad saying a long the lines of he was her hero for helping her that day, both her parents also approached my dad directly and thanked him at work for his actions.Although she will always have a reminder of what that man did to her,she will also have a reminder of some bus drivers are decent.Funny thing is she still jumps on my dads route regulary. :)

When I lived in London, I was on a night bus back to Putney and the bus driver and a passenger got into an argument over money and whether the right amount of change had been given. The bus driver drove the bus to the local police station and made all the other passengers wait in the bus while he and the other guy went inside and presumably asked the police to sort it out. They must have given the pair of them short shrift because they both came out with their tales between their legs and we proceeded on our way. Very bizarre. To be fair though, I think bus drivers in London have the worst job of all, they get so much abuse.

I agree London bus drivers suffer so badly! I know I could never do it!

A friend of my hubby's was a bus driver, really nice guy. His bus used to go through Richmond Upon Thames higstreet, if anyone knows it. Quite an affluent area. Anyway, so there he was sat on his bus in traffic on the high street one day when he saw a guy wearing a balaclava leaving a jewellery store. The guy was carrying a bag. The next thing the store alarm started going off. Hubby's friend jumped out of the bus, wrestled the guy to the floor, handed back the jewellery and sat on the bloke until the police arrived!! He recieved a standing ovation from his passengers and then just carried on his route! :D

your dad is a HERO :D:D Bless him, what a pity that the world isn't full of folks like him .. he should of got a medal ..not disciplinary action  !!! say a thankyou to him from me too :D

most bus drivers around here are lovely .. there are a couple though who enjoy moving off way too soon, when there are old people still standing up making there way to the seats .. I think they think its funny when they stumble and fall  .

Agreed. This time last year I was trying to get out of the house as I was going insane with a broken arm. Being a fresh break, it was still in a bright sling and was blatantly obvious. I couldn't drive, so got the bus. The driver set off as soon as I'd paid, leaving me to stagger down the aisle of a speeding bus on country lanes, with a broken arm and a bag. I took a friend on the same route earlier this year. She was so shocked at the way they drive in my area, I think it scarred her for life!

Im not shocked by the way some of the bus drivers behave around this area(kent, dover way).I can remember it piddling it down with rain and I had my son with me who was 3 years old at the time,we were soaked thought to myself great another minute and it be here. Two minutes later bus appeared my son put his arm out like he always does and the b**tard drove straight past us,i was livid! So took the bus number and time it went past and reported him whether some thing was done about it I dont know.I can understand how you feel about your arm,did exactly the same thing to me when my leg was in cast two weeks after breaking it AND he did get an ear full off me.And gracey I will tell my dad,he just recently give up his driving and is now an inspector so does go round on the buses every so often.Hes a giant bless him and is nick named 'The Fridge' at work as hes solid and takes a lot to move him,hes what I would class as a true old school type always one on one and does anything for his family and best to help people out, just glad that horrid piece of dirt got his comuppence. He had to give up driving as he has a heart condition and is diabetic so hes had no choice but to calm down bless him,as you can see I do love my dad and didnt want good drivers to be let down by the idiotic ones. :)

Some of them are miserable ********. I was driving a coach into a railway station, there was a chap in a wheelchair waiting at the stop with his family. The bus ahead of me was on it's way out of the station, so I tried to flag him down as he was driving a wheelchair-friendly kneeling bus (we were going to the same destination via different routes), he just looked at me, pulled a face, shrugged and drove off, leaving me to apologise to the passenger for having to leave him behind waiting for the next bus, which would be there in an hour!

Nice. At least the git concerned worked out of a different depot, so I didn't have to see him that often.

I'll never understand why people do jobs like that if they can't be bothered to care just a little bit.

Some of these are so sad! Jeeves that story was horrible :(

We have some nice bus drivers round this way. I used to get on the bus at same time eveyday coming home from work. The Busdriver was lovely, the station was opposite a newsagents. Anyway 1 day the man pulled up he looking dreadful so clearly wasn't well. He gave me £2 and asked me to get him a bottle of water from the shop. He waited outside for me (with a bus full of passengers) I got him his water, gave him some of my paracetomel and then got on. He let me on for free for the rest of the week (but shhhhh:p)

Dublin bus drivers scare the bejasus out of me!! The drive at top speed everywhere then slam on the brakes. They don't slam on the brakes until after the stop though, so they always stop well past it. The waiting passengers then leg it up the road towards the bus, and just when they nearly get there, the driver shoots off again. Think Harry Potter and the Knightbus :D

They are rude, they won't take you unless you have the right change (so it's worth getting the card thingy just to avoid the hassle even if you hardly ever go by bus), but the big joke is that whenever people get off the bus they ALWAYS say thank you to the driver :D I think it encourages them to do it!

its not just bus drivers - i was waiting for the train the other week with my baby in his pram. The train arrived, small rural station with 1 platform and only 3 or 4 people getting on. The guard got off and I waited at the step onto the train for him to come and help me as there is such a big gap there was no way i could lift my pram on myself. The others got on and he got back on and waved at the driver to go! I shouted and waved and he got off again and said ‘oh are you waiting to get on?” i replied that I was but needed some help and I got a terribly huffy response but he did lug my pram on for me. Charming.

Here in Manchester there are alot of horrible and frankly incompetent bus drivers. They used to take a delight in deliberately driving at speed through puddles to soak people on the pavement (could see them laughing their heads off in the mirror as they passed), they claim to be full and drive past busy stops when there were clearly seats available, they NEVER stop for red lights or zebra crossings, pedestrians just have to jump clear, pull away when the left indicator is still flashing, pull away sharply before you have reached a seat or even a pole to hang onto, ignore roundabout rules and on one occasion, having stood in a line to get on behind a very tall guy (I'm 5'4" and quite slim), I got my foot on the bottom step and the driver slammed the doors shut on me, trapping me half in and half out of the bus, and drove off. When my screaming prompted him to stop (eventually) he gave me a load of abuse and blamed me for jumping on as he was pulling away! Pond life with only one more brain cell than the local taxi drivers.

whenever people get off the bus they ALWAYS say thank you to the driver

I always say thankyou to the driver, even if they missed my stop (no street lights and its dark in the winter) and I had to jump out in front of the bus almost to make it stop!

I remember a bus driver in Liverpool once at about 2am letting a very drunk man ride for free, I think he thought it wasn't worth his job to try and get money out of him - wise man I think :)

I always make a point of saying thank you even if they have been rude to me. I remember one time I got told off in front of an entire bus full of people for not using that machine to buy a ticket, even though I have him exact change just to make it easier for him. He then chucked my ticket on the floor, told me to pick it up and then accelerated so I fell over! It sounds hilarious but at the time I was fuming. I couldn't bite my lip on that occasion so on my way out I told him his customer service was awful. Funnily enough I got on the bus and for the first time ever he actually said hello with a smile on his face.

Many years ago when buses had conductors on them I had to get on a night bus very distressed after incident with new husband. I had no money but the conductor let me stay on the bus. Ill always remeber his kindness that awful night.

Its not SC is it? they are known for being useless round here! Could moan about them for hours, but thats what 2 years of relying on them to get you from a rural village to the centre of town does to you .
