Could any appaloosa colour expert tell me the technically correct colour for my mare. Shes only part appaloosa.
Um its hard to see from pictures really as she not actually that spotty and her colouring has varied from year to year.
Shes bay, but her legs arent like pure black more chocolatey. Her main and tail are black mixed with white, and her coat is like a bright reddish bay but with flecks and a few white spots and shes roaning out alot more now too. Shes also got a mottled nose.

Ooh that's so exciting!

I know an appy stallion called Dance With Wolves, he's amazing, don't know if he's still open for public stud though?

I have a big appy gelding who is retired due to injury, I wish he was a mare as he really is a stunning horse and has a temperment to die for! I want myself a little spotty foal :o

Yeah, Dances With Wolves is retired from public stud now. A mare at the yard (albeit no spots) is by a stallion who is sired by Dances With Wolves, and he's standing at stud.

Awh thankyou I love her to actual pieces, shes now retired at 8 years though to a fractured knee, so im trying to look into putting her in foal x

She looks like a bay base-coated snowflake to me. Apps tend to change colour with the seasons, she is roaning out very slowly if she is 8. Be interested to know her breeding. I have sent you a PM. ;)

My old mare looked exactly like yours colour-wise, and I was told to describe her as a bay frost spot Appaloosa. Her stable name was Freckles!
