hi i have just brought an appaloosa yearling....what classes can i do with him...can i enter coloured classess or are they just for piebald, skewbald etc?....he is a near leapord spot.
i would really appreciate some help.

Local shows usually state in their schedule what is allowed in a coloured class. For more info why not try the British Spotted Pony Society or CHAPS websites.

I had an appaloosa over 30 yrs ago - wonderful genuine chap - loved him to bits.

thank you.x my little man is very thin at the moment but i'm working on that....i have only had him a week!...do they learn quickly as he seems very intelligent?

My spottie was very intelligent and honest. He SJ'd, XC'd, won the PC dressage cup and family pony classes. A very unflappable good friend. My horse of a lifetime as you can tell from the warm sentiments. He was quite rare then - I bought him 38 yrs ago so he'd now be gone to horsey heaven and there weren't many spotties around at all then.

I have a near leopard spotted appy too. he is 3. :)
You can enter full appy breed classes at county shows. Also depending on his build enter hunter or riding horse/ hack classes. Also youngstock classes obvs lol :)
most coloured classes at local shows state whether they allow spotties etc in.

wow!...thanks for the help he is i think on the part bred registar as his mum was tb. i was at our county show this weekend but no appaloosa classes. could he do sport horse...?....there was a spotty in the youngstock sport horse?

yea mines registered part bred as well, half welsh D.
You should be able to go into sport horse classes if he looks sporty :P do u have any pictures??

I have a 4 year old appy x welsh he is near leopard spotted. He is lovely. Have had him since just before he was 2. I wouldn't say he is that bright lol but he is very trusting so will have a go at anything. Everyone loves him. Most local shows have coloured/spotty classes. The APHUK Society show is at Moreton Morell in a couple of weeks - if you are close enough it is a lovely show.
