Yesterday Cochise and I did our first ever showing show! (or show of any sort for that matter!)

We hack out regularly - but hes never in a school or in a busy yard - so the full thing was VERY new to him! He is also a field horse - he has hard standing and a stable block - but doesnt get locked in.

He's full of beans even a little hyper at the best of times but this took the biscuit!

It all started with an alarm at 4am  ( never had to get up this early for showjumping!) any way we were giving him a lovely bath, he was a fidget but no tantrums (was highly suprised and proud of him!) until....ZAP! he backed into the electric fence! oooop... :o poor baby, soaking wet and zapped. He didnt find it amuzing at all and decided that having a bath was a *shocking* thing to do to him! Bless!

So then began the pleating.... Cochise has the typical fluffy monster appaloosa mane - I had my work cut out. I decided the best way to deal with it would be to do loads of pleats - 25 in total lol! He did stand ok ( with his mum holding his head still.) Took me about an hour :o. Then he found it really funny to knock me off my stool everytime i got onto it when i was doing his forelock!

Our lovely friend arrived with her trailer (she very kindly took us to the show) and she had her minuture shetland in the back. Cochise loaded perfectly  and off we toddled to the show!

This was the view when we opened the trailer -
(note i had decided no to the travel boots )

Looks like the circus has arrived! :p
He off loaded perfectly and then his eyes just about popped out of his head!!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek:
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWW he thought!! Look at all the horses and people!!! prance dance parace dance, neigh, prance, pull, dance, neigh.... this went on and on and on and on and on. He wouldnt stand to be tied to some poor peson had to be holding him while i tried to finish of his grooming. This resulted in a few injuries to his owner - Cochise didnt think standing still was the done thing at shows ;)

So ready to go we hung about waiting for our class to start. Tweed is a nasty horrible thing in roasting weather and not being able to stand still was a nightmare!! My face was like a lobster!

We were waiting a wee while, and my patience was wearing thin, i just wished he stand at peace! He was getting loads and loads compliments - and lapping them up ( he knows hes handsome :p) He then decided to show off some more and do a full rear into the sun - like somthing out of a cowboy film. I said "aye very good handsome - we know your beautiful -now get down" he came down - monster!

Then our turn arrived! he went full steam ahead into the arena - then realised he was in an areana! "waaaa" he thought! Im gently whispering to him now (getting ignored) and getting squished against the wall! He couldnt work out why we had to go round in circles when he would much rather be talking to the other horses!
He neighed a few times, then pee'd, then neighed some more, squished me some more, chewed his bit, rattled his chains, but walked beautifully. When it came to trot he trotted like a pro, from what i could see he didnt it perfectly - was so proud of him. But.... standing still was a major issue!

He would prance, dance, spin and barge into me, continually... And to be honset by this point i was used to it, and understood his excitement and nerves. I tried my best to get him to face the judge in the line up, but facing the horses was a mcuh better idea he thought!!

So the 2 classes we did were hunter/sports horse - We came 5th!!!!! :D
And Coloured horse - We came 3rd!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D

I was so proud of the little monster - What a star!

Smiling for the camera -

his rossettes - I gave them to his mummy - after all, He is her boy- and it was him who won them!

All in all we both had a great experience, there were no dramas or problmes and Coshise seemd to have had a great day.

When we put him back in his field - he ran over to his field mate and appeared to be telling her all about it! lol! Bless.

So I just want to say a HUGE big thanks firstly to Linda for letting me take your boy and, gettign up so early with us and for holding him loads!(his owner - reffered to as his mum in this this post :p)
And to Anne - for going to all the hassel of taking us - greatly appreciated!
And to all those on the forum that made this possible! After all - I wouldnt have had a clue what to do without you's! ( especially Trottingon)

Thanks for reading! :)

He's related to spotty.com and spotdirect I think (I did have a thread somewhere asking about his breeding lol )

His mane only looks that way as it has half a tub of hair gel in lol! I was so suprised and happy that it didn't turn out too bad! Thanks!
