We collected Castle the other day from the place where he was on trial, and I stopped into a friends yard on the way home. There was a man there who was talking to her to see if she knew of anyone to contact in regards to finding a suitable pony for his daughter. He had a look at Castle in the horsebox, and said straight away that Castle had an ugly face... Now, I honestly don't care if he thinks Castle has an ugly head or not, but how can he judge on something so quickly without even seeing him ridden?!?!?

How rude !

I thought from the pics that Castle had a lovely face . Anyway , ' Handsome Is As Handsome Does ' - think I might have been tempted to have told him that he was no oil painting himself

Naww, his head is not the finest, but suits him! I wouldn't say he was judging him, just his face LOL, did he say he didn't like ponies with ugly heads? The size of his head is very different to how he goes, was he relating them?

Oh well, the man was prabably ugly, and Castle is a ledge what ever!

"Handsome is as handsome does" - sooooooo true! TBH absolutely 100% honest with you, I have never looked at Castle and thought "what a handsome pony" - he is workmanlike and would never win "Prettiest Pony" awards, but when you SEE what Castle is, as a pony, what a fab hunter and servant he is, then he is more *handsome* then a hell of a lot of equines I have met in my life (and a lot of them were very pretty

Patches has an ugly head, especially when she's all fluffy under the jawline.

I didn't put her beauty over her suitability to my riding though. Foolish man. It's not how posh your pony looks, it's how much fun and trust you can have in your pony that counts.

His loss. He's clearly far too shallow to deserve such a genuine chap.

people who buy horses to look nic generally don't have a nice time of it, I bought my ugly pony after one of our hunt masters had dismissed it- she bought a very pretty but totally unhuntable bay TB, and I bought Oshk the not-so-pretty hunter..

Castle's face isn't ugly - it is just full of character! If they wanted a pony to show then perhaps he wouldn't be the pony for them, but otherwise they are foolish to turn a pony down for that reason. One of the best horses I ever had, had a very similar face and was an absolute superstar

Well just think it's his loss! Castle has proved to be a fantastic pony for you. Ditto what Rosiie said. I think it's better to have a pony you can really enjoy, trust and get out there and have fun with than one that is stunning but an absolute nightmare to deal with. I also think Castle and Oshk are nice looking anyway. They look like they have loads of character which I personally love in a horse

the stupid git. i think Castle has a nice face, he looks honest and like a pony that would really look after his rider (which going by your posts is exactly what he is). i think Castle has had a lucky escape from such a stupid individual.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder

stuff the silly man, he has never seen Castle in action has he, so his loss. He's a super pony and horrible man will miss out if he judges by looks alone.

I love little castle , I think hes a fab little dude and if you hadnt been so far down and I hadnt of got Tommy I would have snapped him up xx

That man probably fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch

Well I must be in the minority, because I wouldn't buy a horse I considered to have an ugly face, and I wouldn't waste the sellers time by taking the viewing any further if I knew I felt that way on a first look.

However, I also wouldn't be rude enough to word it quite like that, especially in front of the child who was selling

beauty is in the eye of the beholder people used to tell me izzy was ugly and i used to think they were blind (looking back to photos of when i first got her she was ugly

) but i think she is even more beautiful now and at the end of the day i am the one looking after her and i can't wait to see her when i get upto the yard.

his loss!!!!! castle is such a great pony!!!!

Thanks everyone, I wouldn't have mind if he had said "I prefer finer ponies", but I found it a bit rude of him to have said that straight to me...

He was looking for a pony for his daughter to hunt and do a bit of PC with.
