Ugh some horsey people seriously seriously p*ss me off.
I went to a local showjumping competition today as a favour to my friend, and rode her horse in the 1.05m class as she is pregnant and can't ride.
The horse is ridden in a snaffle with a kineton noseband. Of course they arn't a very common piece of tack and I got loads of people asking me what it was and how it works, which is fair enough, I do the same!
One woman came upto me and said "Crikey, I havnt seen one of those bloody things since the early seventies, and even then they never took off, how very oldschool! I think its time to update your tackroom sweetie, you're a little old fashioned arn't you!?"
I mean, my god, if the noseband works for the horse, who the hell cares if it "unfashionable". Its really wound me up, if she had said this to someone a little more horse fashion concious, or a younger rider you can put your money on them never wearing it again. I felt so angry, tack doesn't go out of fashion, I'd sooner be riding it in an odd noseband and a snaffle than having the latest, coolest thing on.
