Dear all,

This is a permanent sticky post in order to update HHO users about current editorial opportunities in Horse magazine. I’ll be adding all new requests to this thread, so please do check regularly if you would like you and your horse to appear in the magazine. However, it’s best if you get touch via email (victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com) rather than reply below.

JANUARY UPDATE: at present, we would love to hear from you if:

* You fell in love and got together with your vet/farrier/yard owner or instructor! Are they the ultimate catch? Let us know – email victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com

* You’ve met a famous rider at a show and had your picture taken with them – we’ll print the best photos in a future issue.

* You’re involved with an affiliated equestrian sport and have any news or updates. Please email the editor ( karen_spinner@ipcmedia.com ) for possible inclusion in our News From Your Sport page.

* You would like to have a lesson with a top rider. Send your details and we’ll keep them on file for any lessons in your area. Just let us know:
- Your name, age, where you live and your contact details
- Your horse’s name, age, height, colour and breeding
- Your riding experience/preferred discipline
- Any schooling/jumping problems you have

* You'd like a picture of your horse or pony to appear in print. The themes for our upcoming Collecting ring photo galleries are Beautiful ponies (ie must be under 14.2hh!), and foals/youngstock. Send a high-res image, plus a bit of info about your horse/pony, to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com

* We always love to hear your thoughts on the magazine – especially all the new features and columns we have introduced. Send your Letters to the Editor to karen_spinner@ipcmedia.com

Thanks again

Victoria

Dear Victoria,

As a regular user of the H@H online forum, i understand that we are invited to write and give you views and ideas for Horse magazine.I would like to say firstly that i love the magazine but at the moment the only story that is on most peoples mind is the plight of the poor horses rescued in Amersham and their progress. We are obviously more importantly trying to lobby to change the laws so that an incident like this never happens again! Just a suggestion but i think it would be nice if maybe you could cover this story in your magazine and try and promote public awareness to the issues of cruelty and neglect in the horse world and maybe this will encourage people to sit up and take note that we as members of the horsey world will not sit on our backsides and see this happen again,we will somehow put an end to this needless suffering and neglect! many thanks

Hi Victoria

I'd like to echo the comments made by Socksnblaze.

We need loads of publicity for our cause - from raising extra funds for the rescued horses, to our lobbying of the government to find out where the process broke down, and what needs to be changed to prevent this happening again.

If we can get publicity in Horse magazine, then maybe a non-horsey mag/paper will take interest and word will filter out to non-horsey people.

Many thanks
Kate

i second SOCKNBLAZE, the whole country is behind this, raising funds, changing the laws, and making sure the accused dose NOT get even one horse back but a sentance worthy of murder. most of the awareness has come from horse and hound forum, being taken over to other forums and all people in equine commuinty, please help us to keep this in the front of the publics mind every day. and to keep it a high profile international campaign,
many thanks

Well I've got the pictures from Your horse live event where I met Carl Hester, but I like many others would prefer to see a story on Amersham and the aftermath that has been dealt with by the charities! Along with the huge effort being made by horse lovers all over the country to help those horses!

And your only based in Peterborough, so could easily cover the story of the convoy to Norfolk!

As much as I would love to show off my horsey wedding pics and tell all on how horses brought me to my wonderful hubby I am greatly in support of socksnblaze. I think it would be a great help to operationesther and would raise more and more awarness of the horrific events that have happened and try to provide more awarness to prevent anything like this happening again.

Honestly I DONT need acknowledging for this thanks! As I have said before, we are all singing from the same hymm sheet here.... So that makes us ALL Bob geldofs!

*goes and checks front door is locked for fear of press bounding through door to find me sitting here in my dressing gown!* Oh the shame of that!

Dear all,

Thank you for your comments on this thread.

First of all, I would like to assure all readers and forum users that the Amersham story and the issues raised by it will be covered in the next issue of Horse, which will be in the shops on the 31 January. We will also be including information in the magazine on what the public can do to help the horses rescued from Spindels Farm.

It goes without saying that the entire team at Horse has been appalled by this case and we know how important it is to our readers. If anyone would like to contribute a letter on the subject to the magazine, then please do email me at karen_spinner@ipcmedia.com

However, this thread has not been posted with the intention of discussing the Amersham case - there are other parts of the forum where you can do this. The point of this thread is to get you and your horses involved in the magazine, and we have found this to be a very successful way of communicating with our readers in the past.

Many thanks,

Karen Spinner

I thought Karen put a fair point across very diplomatically? I don't think people need to take it personally

I think it is great that Horse mag are covering the Amersham horses but nice to see other things too, especially things relating to HHO members and their horses!

I tell you who else who would be great to feature in Horse Magazine, little Katy Roberts ("little star")..Especially for those liitle girls out there who read the magazine but have no access to internet.. I think she would be an inspiration and someone they could relate to.. she brings the Amersham cruelty down to their level of understanding too.. Adults too reading her story and reading about her distress at the cruelty, wanting to help!! ..I'd hope would want to stop it ever happening again..
