Dear all,

This is a permanent sticky post in order to update HHO users about current editorial opportunities in Horse magazine. I’ll be adding all new requests to this thread, so please do check regularly if you would like you and your horse to appear in the magazine. However, it’s best if you get touch via email – victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com – rather than reply below!

MARCH UPDATE: at present, we would love to hear from you if:

* You'd like a picture of your horse or pony to appear in print. The themes for our upcoming Collecting ring photo galleries are the most gorgeous ponies (ie must be under 14.2hh!), and Escape artists – horses and ponies who are masters at untying themselves or opening stable doors. Send a high-res image, plus a bit of info about your horse/pony and your full name and address, to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com
The first Coloured horse collecting ring gallery will be in the May issue. I had an amazing response to this – with more 100 emails. We’ve only had room to include a few pictures this month, but we’ll be returning to this theme several times and I’ll be in touch with everyone when we’ll be running their pictures in the magazine.

* We've started a new page in the May issue called ‘Horse counties’, which will give the lowdown on the best yards, tack shops, show centres, hacks, main shows, and famous rider residents from your area. It will be packed with useful information for newer residents and let others know why they should visit your county, while long-term residents will have the chance to share the best things about living (and horse-owning) where they do.
We kicked off the series with Cheshire (and plan to cover all the other counties across England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland). Next we’ll be looking at East and West Sussex, so if you want to share your thoughts on Sussex-life, please do drop me an email ( victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com )

There was an interesting post on the HHO forum recently, which debated the issue of stable hygiene. So in the next issue, we’ll be looking at just how hygienic your horse’s everyday surroundings should be.
Do you scrub and sterilize daily, from buckets to wheelbarrows and even mucking out tools?
Or do you think a bit of dirt is inevitable around horses, and should be the least of your equine worries?

Have you ever suffered humiliation at the hands of your horse? In a brand new series in Horse magazine, we'll be featuring some great rider confessions every month. An HHO user is the star of the first part of this series – the issue will be on sale from 27 March if you want to find out who it is!

Do you own a stunning horse or pony and have access to a picturesque location? Then Horse magazine wants to hear from you! Horse is looking for models – human and equine – to take part in photo shoots for its summer issues.

To be considered you must be located in Berkshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Warwickshire or Worcestershire. Don’t worry if you live elsewhere, as we’ll be covering other areas soon.

Please email some information about yourself and your horse, and your yard/location, including your age, to: joanna_browne@ipcmedia.com. Please include a photograph if possible.
 
The Collecting Ring special on Ponies is now complete and will be included in the June issue, on sale next week.

The theme for next months page is escapees - horses and ponies who can untie themselves, open gates and stable doors, or are prone to escaping from their field. If you have to keep an eye on your equine at all times, get in touch - victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com. Please include one high res photo, your full name and address, and details about your horse and his houdini tendencies.

The Escapologists Collecting Ring page has now gone to press and will be in the summer issue, on sale from 22nd May. Thank you to everyone who contacted me about this feature, and the adults who ride ponies feature, which is also part of the Summer issue.

The theme for next month's Collecting Ring is ex-racehorses. If you own and compete an ex-racer, please send one high-resolution photograph, a bit of information about you and your horse, as well as your full name and address, to victoria_gray@ipcmedia.com. If we print your photograph, you will win a prize from Toggi.

Finally, since there's often some confusion about high-resolution photographs, here's a basic guide:
* A photo taken with a digital camera is normally a large enough file size - those taken from websites or with mobile phones are nearly always too small
* A scan from a printed photo is fine, but make sure you save the file at 300dpi resolution.
* Watch out for Hotmail, which automatically shrinks photographs to make them easier to email. This leaves them too small for us to print.
* If you email the photograph, look at the size of the email. Anything less than 1MB is probably going to be too small to use
* If you don't have any electronic photographs, you can send a print to Horse Magazine, 9th Floor, Blue Fin Building, Southwark St, London SE1 0SU. Don't forget to include a return address.

We are looking for a rider to have a lesson with eventer Matt Ryan on the afternoon of Tuesday 20th May – short notice, I know! The lesson will be held at Matt's yard near Abergavenny, Wales - and will focus on building jumping confidence to help you go cross-country.

If you are available and would like a lesson with Matt, courtesy of Horse, please get in touch. The lesson will appear in a future issue of Horse, and you must have your own horse and transport.

I have never bought Horse Mag before and what a lovely surprise it was when one of my liveries gave me her copy to read yesterday as their was an article about tendons which she knew would be helpful to me at this time. I was so impressed with the format, competitions, giveaways and horse owners experiences that I am going to subscribe

Awww... when will there be a collecting ring for naughty, conformationally challenged, indeterminate-breed, rocket-fuelled, 14.2hh ponies? I'm sure readers would be fascinated to know the exact circumference of Brandy's grass belly and just how many kilos of mud she can cake onto herself in autumn.
