I have just had a "stressfull" trip at my local saddlery trying on jodphurs/breeches. I am a size 12/14 bottom and a 16 top in normal clothing size, so upshot I have slim legs and bottom but a wide old waist! (I dont look too abnormal I promise!) I have such problems trying to find jods to fit properly. After trying a range of 30/32 waist - some I could even get near to doing them up but the 28/30 fitted me fine in the legs. I have had to in the past get my jods taken in but this isnt ideal. I tried a pair of 32 which fitted nicely in the waist but then I had enough fabric in the legs to sail a yacht! In the end I "plumped" for a size 28 from Harry Hall (Laburnham) range which are pull on, so comfy on my waist and fits perfectly on my legs. I dont want just to wear pull ons though.....Anyone out there with a similar problem and if so what makes seem to work for you?

Yay I'm not alone in being a weird shape!!

Even at my thinnest I was still a size 14/16 top and 8 bottom as I have freakishly large shoulders and rib cage.

Anyway now a healthier (bit heavy!) 16 top and 12/14 bottom, I cannot wear high waist stuff as not much difference between hips and waist so they look ridiculous and roll down and develip wings on the thighs.

My favourite find was Shires Chester breeches - I'm a size 30 in those. Full seat and don't roll down and have a front pocket. I have over 10 pairs of these as was frightened they would stop making them!!!

Fuller fillies won't help, as being 12/14 bottom half isn't that big

Plus they are designed for bigger thighs and if OP is like me I have quite trim legs, but no waist

If you can still find them, have a look at the Kyra K range. I think the same shape is now sold by Gersemi.

The waistband sits below the natural waistline. Legs are narrow.

Totally the wrong shape for me!

No I dont think the Fuller Fillies range will help as we do not have BIG legs its the waist which is the problem. The jods I bought today are a size 12 and fit perfectly in the legs and because they are a pull on size they are comfortable in the waist. As I said I would love to wear smarter jods/breeches but the problem is the shape. Its a bit like trying to find the perfect jean and we are all different shapes and sizes. Its good to know that there are some of you having similar problems.... With my other horsey friends they have the opposit problem, fine on the waist but some ranges can be too tight on the legs (which is probably pear shaped). I feel a business idea coming on offering like Gap do in jeans, long and lean, straight cut, curvy etc etc but in jods!
