Hi all,

I am fascinated by differences in conformation required by different disciplines and changing fashions and no-where does it seem to be more evident that in Arabians (also one of my favorite breeds :D) so I am currently trying to look at it a little bit objectively but first I need the info. So, does anyone know/can anyone tell me

which is the most prestigious endurance race in the UK?
and the US?
Is there a leading/highest earning sire list for endurance?

Where would I find the highest earning/leading sire list for Arabian racehorses in the UK? and the US?

Which is the most prestigious In Hand/ Halter horse award for Arabians in the UK? and the US?

If anyone can offer me any pointers that would be great.

Your best place to start for American info is the AHA http://www.arabianhorses.org/default2.asp.

Like most of the "big breeds" in the US they are masters of record keeping, statistics and education about the breed. If you're REALLY interested, it's worth trying to get hold of their magazine - it's truly stunning but would likely cost a bomb to get shipped here because it's the equivalent of a high end fashion mag.

Interesting blog here: http://arabians.amyzan.com/

Thanks, I have tried the AHA site and found it kinda confusing and couldn't find any archived show results on there. I have emailed them though, they may get back to me.

The blog is great, thanks.

Not an expert in the areas in which you are seeking info but here's a few starters:
Endurance
http://www.endurancegb.co.uk/

Most prestigious US endurance race Tevis Cup. One of top horses was Remington Steele (now deceased) but frozen semen might still be available.

Racing
http://www.aroracing.co.uk

Most Prestigious Halter Award in UK would be British National Champion and US National Champion across The Pond.

For the states, endurance wise, it would be Tevis, although there are some other pretty notorious ones too. American endurance news can be found here:
http://www.endurance.net/

In this country, Golden Horseshoe is the nearest we've got to Tevis and is a 'proper' old fashioned endurance ride. It's the one everyone wants to do at least once in their life. In terms of one day 100s, the National Championship is normally decided at the Summer Solstice, which is held close to the longest day of the year and moves venue every few years. It's been at Cirencester for the last few years, and at Ludlow before that, but this year it's at Euston Park.

In the UK we're not actually that good at monitoring breeding. There are a few studs that consistently produce the goods (Warrens Hill, Vlacq & Pearl Island spring to mind amongst others) but no real monitoring of what lines are successful and which are not. We have an enormous database of results since the 80s but I don't think anyone's ever done any proper research using it. It could be quite an interesting job for someone ;)

I don't know how long it will take because I have work and life that gets in the way of my 'ooo that's interestings' but I am going to give it a go looking at the various champions in each area since as far back as I can find records for, hopefully at least 60 years, and comparing breeding and, if I can find pictures, looks and conformation.
