Please could I ask a favour? Would you mind messaging me with a little video of your horse trotting (or photos)? My vet and I are in a bit of a disagreement about how Arabs should move, so I’d like a bit of a sense check for myself! Google is mostly giving me American seahorse show horses to compare to.
 
Have a look at the for sale ads on Arabian Lines, they often have videos as well as photos.

Some Arabs do move a bit differently. It's almost like they trot on their toes (they don't). I don't know how to describe it. They're also a bit naturally croup high and head high with a tendency to have their nose out. I've painted an awful picture, I know 🤣 some do have more knee action or are more uphill. There is a some variation in the breed and you have a plethora of different types/origins. Also look up endurance horses to see a more average and functional mover.

I'd consider these to be average/normal Arabs at liberty:

How they're ridden and trained also makes a huge difference, as with many horses.
 
Mim is similar, both conformationally and from a breeding perspective. I pulled some photos from the years to look at how her trot has changed.

Sorry folks, didn’t mean to leave this thread hanging, and I appreciate the replies. Vet and I watched the same trot up and had very different opinions! However, we were both sort of right and sort of wrong. He said not lame, short and choppy is how Arabs move. I said bilaterally lame in front and lame right hind, but not necessarily coming from the limbs. The answer was bloody awful gastric ulcers. So not able to move properly.

I genuinely expected it to take weeks to see any kind of improvement, but even in just days on treatment she is moving much more freely front and back, so it must be giving her some sort of relief already.
