Arab owners...what saddle do you have?

Always had Ideals on mine. Always fit. Good price quality saddle. I understand that the they were originally designed with Arabs in mind

Reactorpanel for preference, however a 16 1/2" Fylde Marjorie fits him very nicely for showing and the Wintec 200 GP belonging to my daughter's section B does surprisingly well for jumping with a lightweight rider (actually he doesn't seem to mind me in it either but I don't like it). Naturally my daughter is eyeing up the Fylde as a quid pro quo as the swap also works well the other way round!

An old Torsion treeless for me.
For my 8stone sharer - ancient, unbranded saddle from a riding school that is an 18!!! It fits him beautifully and has done for the last 10 years. And it was free;)

My very high withered Shagya mare was very difficult to fit, especially in Frnace where I was quoted 3 months to make a saddle. I have a Cliff Barnsby combination saddle on an open tree.

I have a Morris & nolan show saddle on my boy at the moment - but shhhh it has actually been stolen from our other pony - but want to get a dressage saddle for the boy at some point soon.

An Ideal VSD, fits him really well after a few adjustments (very fat in summer!)
is the most comfortable saddle I've ridden in - and if he wasn't comfy I'd soon know about it!

Liked the Free n Easy saddles but they were too long for my short backed croup high lad.

Obviously depends on the shape of the horse  I always seem to go for the flat backed and very wide Arab model, I've found The Ideals and Farrington saddles to be the best design.

Umm yes, mine is also in a Thorowgood T4 wide fitting and it fits him very well. He is high withered, wide shouldered and short backed, so not the usual shape really.

Falcon Adler VSD XW - after 12 attempts with all sorts of others! Horse is wide thro' the shoulder, with a big movement & a wide flat back, very little wither. Luckily he isn't particularly short-backed, so there's plenty of room for a saddle. It fits him well, a bit big for me but it's comfy.

Thanks for your replies.....sorry didnt get back on last night:o

Mine is in a Kent and masters GPD...he actually has a wither, he's in the XW gullet at the moment. It fits him fine in general....and I know he would object if it didn't ( saddle issues with previous owner meant that when he saw a saddle- he plopped himself and refused to be tacked and mounted. He is happy to do both now so I know he's not in any discomfort)....the only slight niggle I have is the saddle slipping forward ever so slightly. I gather its a common problem - or can be- with arabs. Thing is- he needs to develop more muscle and topline, which is why I went for the adjustable option. I think I may just get a limpet pad or whatever they are called and see how he is when he has a better shape on him. If its still slipping a bit I may have to reconsider.

I've actually beeen looking at treeless saddles.....hmmm....unshod horses, treeless saddles....whats happening to me:eek:;):D:D

My first Arab had an original Thorogood Griffin medium - fitted perfectly without any professional help. Current Arab has a Wintec CAIR adjustable with wide gullet fitted. Again fits perfectly without any saddler help (but then I thought that was the whole point of CAIR anyway)

I'm another who has a free'nEasy. I hadn't come accross them before the horse I have now. He was ridden in one by his previous owner and went well in it so decided to stick with what works for him.
