arab questions?!

My pure bred mare loves jumping and has a super, athletic and very fast jump. She is 26 years old now,but still enjoys her jumping. She has competed at show jumping and won and been placed. She is fast against the clock too,and can turn on a sixpence. She also loves cross country, minus the water, she hates water.I have also come across many Arab crosses over the years, particularly those crossed with Welshies, and have found them to be superb jumpers.

What a lovely thread to come in from the rain to :D

SmiffyImp - WOW !! :D:D:D

Marcus does indeed love his jumping although sometimes can't resist a joke... One that always makes me laugh, mainly because its not me on him :D

OP arabs can jump and very happily too, letting them think its all their idea is a good starting point ;). I would accept that few pure-breds would jump consistently around a whole course of over 3'6" - but part-breds and anglos can and do, absolutely.

Avonbrook, hee hee love the magic carpet flying jump :D:D

even funnier he has obscured the jokey's face with his mane whilst pulling his best look at me face :)

I feel so :o because I hadn't twigged that Avonbrook was from Avonbrook stud. Ooops, silly me. :o :o :o

I have admired Marcus for some time, he's a true performance arabian. Beautiful horse. :)

I rode a lovely part bred arab mare. She was very intelligent and just didn't see the point of jumping!!! Going around was much easier. She would only jump when she wanted to.

Also loaned an arab x welsh. I don't have a photo but he had a lovely jump, very scopey and comfortable.

eta: Sorry that's huge!!! I don't know how to re-size!

Harry can jump (or at least he could when he was younger and a bit less creaky). Never did anything competitive but he would keep up with the 'big boys' out hunting and jump anything they did. He prepped me and my friend for our horse exams too.

He was always a bit hair raising though - you'd get a couple of enormous stag like 'typical arab' jumps that were hellish difficult to sit on before he settled to the job in hand and started using himself properly.

Spud doesn't really have H's jumping talent but he enjoys popping solid obstacles. He can see the point in them but he can't see the point in show jumps once he's done a couple.

Wolf (part bred) seems to have a right little pop on him, from watching him jump ditches etc in the field for fun. I will have to dust off the brave-pants when it comes to riding him as I haven't jumped for years.

My purebred can jump it's just me that can't !! She is a little hair raising at times and positively throws her self over them, but at the same time in the past I have found myself jumping 3ft without a thought for the height.I'm not very confident even though I had a crazy jumping pony(though he did like to stop when things got
bigger been there done it why should I attitude :))

Sorry, (or is that thankfully) no photos from me - but my partbred will happily approach a jump with the utmost politeness in a lovely show ring shape, and then sort of go mid air like a star fish, and land like a kangaroo on his hind legs, then immediately back in to his show ring frame. So we don't ask him to go over poles very much...like ever! LOL

However, another horse on my yard is higher percentage arab blood and BSJA - recently competed Scottish Horse of the Year show at 1m 30. And he's only 14.2 or so.

Arabs can jump, but don't tell everyone! ;) As long as the opposition believe that to be true, they won't think we're a threat in the jump off, but we are! :D We have 3 competing BS at the moment and all are winning, even our baby who won her first BS class against 40 competitors.

when I saw this thread immediately thought of pinto's arabs, glad to hear your doing so well!
horses & rider are both very pretty as well as talented! :D

How about Alwin Shockemohle's wonderful Anglo Arab Rex the Robber. That demonstrates Arabs can jump at the highest level.I used to love that horse when I was a teenager and would love to see any old footage if there is any available.

Tamarillo has already been mentioned and you don't get many records better than his in eventing. Don't forget that, amongst others currently competing at top level eventing, Redesigned and Jakata also have Arabian blood. :D
