Arab x TB - anyone got one?

Gosh, pasha, what is your boy's breeding? He is the spitting image of mine!!

Agree again with above by the way, I love my pure bred to bits, already told my OH his next horse will be PBA or else I won't let him have it!!

Gosh, getting a bit excited now....

The 'hotness' doesn't really worry me, it can be an advantage if worked correctly.

Thanks everyone.

Thats how I look at it!! I think it is horses for courses really, I love my lad to bits, yes he is hot, but has absolutely bags of presence and that 'look at me' factor! ANd personality to boot. The only thing I would change about him (he is a pure bred) is a bit more height. He barely makes 15hh with his shoes on! No one ever believes he is that small though because he is so flashy and has a much 'bigger' attitude, if you know what I mean? Would definately look at an anglo next time round though to get the extra height.
Good luck, sounds lovely!!

Used to have an anglo - total loon, but would jump absolutely anything! Gorgeous temperament - could do anything with him. He was also quite nice to hack if you could put up with the spooking!
Mine wasn't any good for dressage I'm afraid - you don't get very good marks for cantering sideways (well not in a prelim or novice test anyway!)

Anglo arab - I had one and found her very intelligent. She was naturally very forward going and sensitive but sensible at the same time. I dont think they are for novices as obviously they are hot blooded types. But get a good one and they are great competition horses being very agile and quick thinking (mine was a natural for SJ).

I havent but my friend has. Nice horse but completely barmy when ridden!!! She had to be retired from riding last year, so produced a foal by an arab stallion- absolutely stunning, with an amazing personality.

My baby number 2 is an anglo. He is gorgeous and he knows it! But he is such a nice person and a great character. He learns extremally quickly and seems so intellegent. Before this year all he had done is hacking(he is now 11) and in a month he was doing fairly good dressage, clear xc and sj and i have had an unbelievable amout of fun on him. Unfortunatly he has been lame for a while but is starting to come back into work now and is loving every minute of it. He got quite grumpy when he wasnt being riden and competed after having his first tasters! I love the breed, they are such happy, willing and beutiful horses.

Here is a photo of him (excuse the body protector, boots, and my position!)

(ahhh resizing hasnt worked, sorry if this is huge!)

Commonly known as an Anglo Arab. I've got one:

She's got the TB pig-headed stubborn streak but I can't say more than that as I've never even sat on her. She's in foal now to a showjumper. I'm hoping that she'll produce either a nice eventer or a speedy SJ-er. I am having great trouble bonding with her as she's very aloof and unloveable, I don't think she likes me very much and the feeling is getting increasingly mutual.

WFP does very well on an Anglo (Tamarillo)

I have one - she's four and we're just breaking her now. I have a chap coming in to help and he's very excited about her. She's nicely put together, moves gloriously, has a fantastic attitude - she really wants to be good and she has a big jump. She's 50/50 with two lines back to Northern Dancer and is 46.87% Crabbett on her Arab side. Oh and she has amazingly hard feet so we're expecting her to go barefoot.

I bought her on an impulse and I'm hoping I've got a real diamond. Fingers crossed.

Yes I bred an Anglo-Arab and kept him for 12 years. I wouldn't have sold him had I not emigrated....not because he was fantastic and wonderful but just because I tended to keep my personal horses forever.

Mine was a very striking looking horse and was quite stocky like a quarter horse. He had a lot of presence and was a big Mummy's boy. He could be quite a challenging ride and we did have our moments over the years! He appeared to be a particularly stupid horse when he was about 2 years old and I was really of a mind to sell him then as I find stupid horses a bit irritating, however thankfully by the age of 3 I had seen a vast improvement in his intelligence.

He was a nice horse, incredibly loving, definitely not for the novice rider though! He did have a lot of spark and some odd idiosyncrasies.

I very much doubt I would ever breed or buy another Anglo though. Not my cup of tea anymore.

Used to have one* - amazing. *TBxIrish mother by Scindian Magician. Amazing wonderful brave as a lion brilliant jumper fantastic sense of humour lovely moving horse - how i miss him. As for confirmation - fabulous and not at all delicate. Go for it! whoops - what i meant to say was His sire was Scindian Magician and his mum was the Irish TB.

My horse is 1/2 Arab 1/4 TB 1/4 Hanovarian and is a star!!

He is sensible but forward going, not strong, moves beautifully and I love him to bits

I mainly have him for dressage and showing but he has a hell of a jump on him so I may jump him too.
He's only 4 but better behaved than most horses at the yard

Friend has an anglo arab and she is beautiful, she has a lovely head with fat cheeks. Yes, she is short in the back, leggy, deep in the chest and has the most amazing trot that you can easily sit to as it floats. She can be a bit silly but is very loveable. I think in France anglo arabs are very popular on the jumping and eventing circuit so must be okay at dressage.

Looks the spit of Ty! That's actually quite freaky.....gonna take some pics at the weekend and you'll see what I mean....he's got those big cheeks too....
