does anyone own an arab that has to wear a crupper to stop the saddle sliding forward?
my gelding is very flatbacked and broad withered, we have tried every make and model of non-slip pad and girth and i'm on my 4th type of saddle but it still slides over his shoulders.
he is very protective of his tail, hates even a tail bandage so i don't know if i will succeed in the crupper wearing but if anyone has any advice that would be great.
thanks kirsti

Afraid not, I have a young arab and my friend with my arab has spent considerable time and money with her saddle fitter getting a similar problem sorted.

Good luck, I am sure it may be worth a try

A friend of mine with an arab who she will being doing advance endurance on next year has the same problem. She will not put a crupper on her arab as she thinks it will look silly and restrict their tail? She was thinking of getting something similar to breastplates, but they go round the back instead of front, like they are in harness? Hope this helps, let me know if you get a crupper how you get on!

mine has a similar problem. An anti slip saddle pad has done the trick though. I use the thorowgood one for cobs that's designed to stop saddles rolling but also works to stop mine slipping forwards

I havn't got an arab but a roly poly section D. I couldn't stop the saddle rolling but a thorowgood pad with the sticky bits underneath and a aerbone humane girth with a neoprene girth cover (about £8 from robinsons) has stopped it completely! Now when we finish a gallop i'm still sat on top rather than clinging underneath!! Hope this helps.

i tried the limpet pad but it seemed to stick to his coat and pull the hair, he was going nuts as he got hotter, i had to get off an when i pulled the pad off it nearly ripped his hair out ! I do have a thorogood sticky nummnah but the pads always stay put and the saddle slides forward - so do i put the sticky numnah on upside down, the saddle might stick to it ?
just thought of that as i was typing, thanks baileyboo!
